Chapter 174
C174 – Justice Hall
When Ye Hao noticed Ming Yue’s expression, he realized she was overthinking things.
“I gave you this pendant to ensure your safety. Now, hold it in your hand.”
Though Ming Yue didn’t grasp Ye Hao’s intention, she complied with his instruction.
Suddenly, Ye Hao picked up an ashtray from the table and hurled it at Ming Yue’s head.
Ming Yue and her parents cried out in alarm.
No one could have anticipated Ye Hao’s abrupt action.
But they were soon stunned by what happened next.
The pendant in Ming Yue’s hand radiated a gentle glow, enveloping her in its light.
The ashtray was eerily stopped, hovering just outside the luminescent barrier.
Ye Hao smoothly caught the ashtray as it fell. “Now you understand the pendant’s worth, don’t you?”
“It’s incredible!”
“You haven’t seen anything yet,” Ye Hao said with a grin. “Make sure to always carry the pendant with you.”
“Okay.”
“Also, I didn’t help you because I like you. I did it because a smart and beautiful woman like you should never lose her smile—it would be a tremendous loss.” Ye Hao spoke earnestly to Ming Yue.
His rationale was astonishing.
Yet Ming Yue found herself believing him.
“And remember, you can’t disclose what happened today,” Ye Hao added gravely.
“I’ll honor my word. But, Ye Hao, my parents are out of work.”
“As long as it doesn’t damage the company’s interests, handle it as you see fit.” Ye Hao then handed Ming Yue a business card, “In the course of your actions, you’ll surely face challenges. Should any arise, seek out this individual. With his influence, there’s little in Glento that can stand in his way.”
Zhang Jinsong!
Ming Yue studied the business card and nodded earnestly.
“Have a chat. I’m going to rest for a bit.” Ye Hao then left for an adjacent room to take a break.
Ming Yue’s parents were visibly moved.
They hadn’t expected their daughter to encounter such a benevolent person.
“Ming Yue, do you believe what he said?” Ming Yue’s mother inquired.
“I do,” her father replied.
“Why?” her mother asked, bewildered.
“Because Ming Yue and he are from different worlds,” her father whispered. “Did you see how he transferred a billion yuan to Ming Yue without batting an eye? I’m convinced that even the wealthiest tycoons would think twice about such an amount, but Ye Hao did it effortlessly.”
“When Ming Yue assured me that I would definitely not be disappointed, Ye Hao simply smiled. Do you grasp the significance of that?”
Ye Hao is indifferent to whether Ming Yue turns a profit or not. In fact, even if Ming Yue’s venture were to lose money, it wouldn’t faze him.”
“I’m not following you,” Ming Yue said with a moment’s hesitation.
“He’s unconcerned with worldly matters; to him, money is merely a series of digits,” Ming Yue’s father explained with a sigh. “He offered you help simply because he felt like it—nothing more.”
Ming Yue was taken aback.
She had previously believed that Ye Hao was fond of her.
After all, Ming Yue was the belle of the University of Finance and Economics, and many men had sought her affection.
Following the abrupt cancellation of Wang Guangrao’s engagement ceremony, the cruise ship departed ahead of schedule.
One day later, the ship docked back at the ferry terminal.
As Ye Hao arrived at the ferry with the crowd, he was immediately encircled by dozens of members of the Martial Arts Bureau, all clad in black military uniforms.
“Are you Ye Hao?” the leading middle-aged man asked with authority.
“Yes,” Ye Hao confirmed with a nod.
“Please come with us,” the middle-aged man instructed.
“And you are?” Ye Hao inquired coolly.
The middle-aged man produced his credentials from his pocket, “I am an elder of the Justice Hall of the Martial Arts Bureau.”
Ye Hao gave the document a cursory glance—it was indeed authentic.
But Ye Hao had no intention of going with them just like that.
“Even if you are an elder of the Justice Hall, you have no jurisdiction to detain me,” Ye Hao stated firmly, looking at the man. “Summon the Head of the Justice Hall here.”
“How dare you!” the middle-aged man exclaimed, reaching out towards Ye Hao. In that instant, a woman materialized, her hand meeting the man’s in a forceful clash.
The resulting boom sent the middle-aged man staggering back several steps before he could regain his footing.
He looked at the woman, bewildered, and challenged, “Shao Hua, are you interfering?”
“Why are you threatening Ye Hao?” Shao Hua demanded.
“Ye Hao’s conduct has had a detrimental impact. I am here on the Head’s orders to apprehend him,” the middle-aged man insisted, locking eyes with Shao Hua.
“Then have Ouyang Hua come here himself,” Shao Hua replied with a dismissive tone.
The middle-aged man was taken aback by Shao Hua’s unexpected protection of Ye Hao.
“If you’re not satisfied, we can have another round,” Shao Hua declared, stepping forward.
After a moment’s contemplation, the man chose to depart.
He could normally defeat Shao Hua, but Shao Hua’s martial arts cultivation had reached the third layer of Blood Refining, and he wasn’t entirely sure he could take her down.
Besides, he couldn’t make a move in such a public setting.
“Shao Hua, you just wait for the Head to come looking for you,” the man said before turning on his heel and walking away.
From a distance, Ye Hao watched the Wang family father and son, who were intently observing the scene.
“The Wang family is truly seeking its own doom.”
The faces of the Wang family duo instantly turned ashen.
They hadn’t anticipated that Shao Hua would stand up to an elder from the Justice Hall of the Martial Arts Bureau.
“You really are a magnet for trouble,” Shao Hua said, shooting Ye Hao a stern look. “Now, follow me to the Martial Arts Bureau.”
Ye Hao turned to Ming Yue and instructed, “Go find the person on the business card now.”
Ming Yue, looking concerned, asked, “Will you be okay?”
“Of course, I’ll be fine. How could anything happen to me?” Ye Hao reassured her with a smile and pushed open the door to Shao Hua’s car.
Truth be told, Ye Hao’s concern was superfluous.
The Wang family wouldn’t dare harm Ming Yue before confirming Ye Hao’s capture.
Upon arriving at the entrance of the Martial Arts Bureau with Shao Hua, Ye Hao noticed the members’ expressions were somewhat unusual.
“Captain, Ouyang Hui is in your office,” Shan Lei informed them in a hushed tone.
Shao Hua, hearing this, was about to usher Ye Hao away.
Despite her outwardly casual demeanor, she harbored some fear of Ouyang Hua.
Ouyang Hua was among the Martial Arts Bureau’s top echelons and a formidable Sea-overturning expert.
As Shao Hua was about to turn away, a strong force immobilized her, and a calm voice echoed through the hall.
“Ye Hao, let’s have a talk.”
With a slight smile, Ye Hao leaped to the doorway of Shao Hua’s office.
Ye Hao immediately noticed an elderly man with snow-white hair, his eyes sharp and spirited, gazing at him intently.
Once Ye Hao entered the room, he casually shut the door behind him.
“What is it you wish to discuss?”
“We should discuss your threat to obliterate the Wang family while on the cruise ship.”
