Chapter 175

C175 – Supreme Elder

“Is there an issue?” Ye Hao asked the elder with a calm demeanor.

“By the rules, if someone threatens you, you’re allowed to kill them on the spot. However, you’re not entitled to drag others into it,” Ouyang Hua said, locking eyes with Ye Hao.

“Do you really believe that?”

“Your actions have had negative repercussions.”

“And now, I intend to revoke your membership in the Martial Arts Bureau.”

“Do you think that’s insufficient?” Ouyang Hua was taken aback.

What was Ye Hao implying?

Could it be that he found the punishment too lenient?

“The truth is, I’ve been wanting to leave the Martial Arts Bureau for some time now.” Ye Hao pulled out his credentials and set them on the table.

“You seem oblivious to the gravity of the situation,” Ouyang Hua remarked.

“And what situation might that be?”

“Without your status in the Martial Arts Bureau, are you aware of how many people will come after you?”

Ye Hao burst into hearty laughter.

“What’s so funny?” inquired Ouyang Hua.

“Do you really think I’ve been relying on my Bureau identity?” Ye Hao glanced at the cup before Ouyang Hua.

Before Ouyang Hua could respond, he watched in astonishment as the water in his cup rapidly froze into ice crystals. A bone-chilling cold crept up his arms and spread throughout his body. In moments, he was encased in ice, unable to move.

Frozen in place, Ouyang Hua could only stare at Ye Hao with eyes wide with fear.

Ouyang Hua was unable to discern Ye Hao’s level of cultivation, yet Ye Hao had full insight into his. Ouyang Hua was in the middle period of the Sea-overturning Realm, while Ye Hao was at the second layer of the Soul Refining Realm.

They were on equal footing.

But even average cultivators could battle across different levels, and Ye Hao was no average cultivator.

With a snap of his fingers, Ye Hao dissolved the ice back into the tea in the cup. It took some time before Ouyang Hua regained control of his limbs.

”You wield Divine Power; you’re a cultivator,” Ouyang Hua finally grasped the full extent of Ye Hao’s implication.

How could someone like him make use of the identity provided by the Martial Arts Bureau?

“Your perception is quite keen,” Ye Hao remarked coolly.

Ouyang Hua, suppressing his astonishment, asked, “If you’re a cultivator, why join the Martial Arts Bureau?”

“I was bored,” Ye Hao replied, leaving Ouyang Hua at a loss for words.

“Well, it’s time for me to leave.” Ye Hao turned to depart.

“Hold on,” Ouyang Hua interjected quickly.

“Would you be interested in becoming a Supreme Elder of the Martial Arts Bureau?” Ouyang Hua proposed after a moment’s thought.

“Supreme Elder? I’m not interested,” Ye Hao declined without hesitation.

“The government will fully support the Supernatural Bureau’s endeavors, but that doesn’t grant the Bureau extensive power,” Ouyang Hua said gravely, locking eyes with Ye Hao. “However, as the Supreme Elder of the Martial Arts Bureau, your status would be on par with that of a first-grade official.”

There were only nine first-grade officials in all of Castoace.

Ye Hao stroked his chin, pondering, “I’ll think about it.”

“Besides, there are many additional perks that come with the position,” Ouyang Hua continued enthusiastically.

“How many Supreme Elders does the Martial Arts Bureau have?” Ye Hao cut in.

“Three.”

“And their levels of cultivation?”

“Apart from one enigmatic figure, the other two are at the third layer of Soul Refining and the first layer of Doppelganger, respectively.”

Ye Hao gave a slight nod, acknowledging that he met the criteria to be a Supreme Elder of the Martial Arts Bureau.

”Would you consider the role of Supreme Elder at the Martial Arts Bureau?” Ouyang Hua pressed.

“Only if my identity remains confidential.”

“This is for you.” Ye Hao handed a brocade box to Ouyang Hua.

Ouyang Hua opened the box with a puzzled look, which quickly turned to incredulity.

“Is this a middle-grade spirit stone?” he blurted out. The Martial Arts Bureau mostly had low-grade spirit stones, discarded by the Three Sects and Six Factions for their impurity. He had never encountered a middle-grade spirit stone before, but he could easily discern its quality from the fluctuations of spiritual energy within.

“These ten middle-grade spirit stones should be sufficient for you to reach the late period of the Sea-overturning stage,” Ye Hao stated calmly.

Given that Ye Hao might require assistance from the higher-ups at the Martial Arts Bureau in the future, it was essential to provide Ouyang Hua with some middle-grade spirit stones.

“These will do,” Ouyang Hua exclaimed with joy as he accepted the ten middle-grade spirit stones. The more he observed Ye Hao, the more he appreciated him.

“What level has the director of the Martial Arts Bureau reached?”

“The director has surpassed the limits of martial arts.”

“You, too, could potentially surpass the limits of martial arts one day,” Ye Hao said to Ouyang Hua, smiling.

A tremor went through Ouyang Hua’s heart.

He clearly grasped the implication of Ye Hao’s words.

If he supported Ye Hao, then Ye Hao would aid in his advancement.

“I will support you unconditionally, as long as it doesn’t go against my principles,” Ouyang Hua declared with conviction.

Ye Hao smiled, then turned and departed.

Upon reaching the ground floor, Ye Hao encountered Shao Hua, who looked anxious.

“Are you okay?”

“Of course, I am,” Ye Hao replied, smiling.

“Are you really okay?” Shao Hua was skeptical.

“Why would I lie to you?” Ye Hao yawned and said, “I’m heading home to rest.”

Seeing this, Shao Hua turned and dashed to her office.

But when she got there, she discovered that Ouyang Hua had vanished.

“Is this what it means to be at the Sea-overturning level?” Shao Hua’s face lit up with eager anticipation.

Yet, advancing to the Sea-overturning stage was no easy feat!

Regardless of how confident Shao Hua was in her abilities, she knew it would take her at least a decade to reach the Sea-overturning Realm.

After leaving the Martial Arts Bureau, Ye Hao phoned Ming Yue. Learning that Ming Yue and her family were being entertained by Zhang Jinsong, Ye Hao chose not to comment further.

He trusted Zhang Jinsong to handle the situation appropriately.

Ye Hao continued on his way home.

En route, he received a call from Xiao Ming.

“Ye Hao, come to the Supernatural Bureau immediately.”

“What’s the matter?”

“I need your help.”

Upon hearing Xiao Ming’s urgent voice, Ye Hao quickly made his way to the Supernatural Bureau.

From a distance, Ye Hao sensed strong surges of ghostly energy.

With a cold huff, Ye Hao conjured a bolt of lightning that crackled across the sky.

Xiao Ming, recognizing the lightning, realized Ye Hao must have arrived and yelled, “Stop! I’ve just located this Ghost Child. Don’t strike it down.”

At his words, Ye Hao ceased his action and entered the Supernatural Bureau.

He immediately spotted a hideous Ghost Child shrieking incessantly, clearly terrified of something and too scared to approach.

“Is it already twelve years old?” Ye Hao asked, looking at the Ghost Child in astonishment.
