Chapter 321: Crafting
Shane and Lysandra then checked the mission board and found the full details of the mission…
The reward that they could get from the Shelter's Lord wasn't noted, but everyone they met who was talking about it knew that it would be amazing.
Unfortunately, these people only knew about white Diodia leaves. It was the most basic healing herb they could obtain, and everyone used it for almost any type of injury, even for a headache. It had healing properties, but it was too weak. Needless to say, this very weak healing herb wasn't the solution that the Shelter Lord was looking for.
"Do you think you can help?" Lysandra asked as she raised an eyebrow. She wasn't sure how Shane would be able to help here since the Shelter Lord didn't just need a temporary solution but a more stable one.
"With my new talent and Fast Regeneration Skill, I might be able to infuse a token or any object with my healing ability," Shane explained.
"It could be the answer to their problem and earn us some rewards."
He knew that he would not be able to hide his talent from Lysandra, so he might as well tell it now. In any case, she was already part of the Eclipse Revenant, and she would certainly see him use this talent more.
Lysandra's eyes lit up after hearing this. She wasn't exactly sure what kind of talent it was, but it seemed that Shane could transfer his skills to other objects.
"That's brilliant! If you can pull it off, it would definitely solve their issue. The Shelter Lord might even give you a Legendary Items for this."
"That would be too much. I don't think they have such a high-level item. However, as long as it's something unique, I can accept it." Shane replied. "I just need to find out what kind of reward we could get. Let's ask around and see if we can get more details." He added.
After a few moments, they approached a nearby merchant who seemed well-informed about the shelter's affairs.
"Excuse me, do you know anything about the reward for solving the medical supply issue?" Shane asked.
The merchant smiled knowingly. "Ah, you're interested in the commission, are you? Lord Kang Zhen is known for his generosity. The reward could range from rare artifacts to a significant amount of resources. I believe it all depends on the value of the solution provided. After all, Lord Kang Zhen himself is the best Mechanic in this land!"
"Mechanic?" Shane and Lysandra repeated. Now that they think about it, it indeed made sense, considering how this shelter was filled with unique machinery or devices.
"Yes… That's right! Any piece of his work could be sold for an extremely high price whenever it appears in the auction." The merchant excitedly shared as he mentioned various more things about the Shelter lord.
Shane couldn't help but smile as he realized that this mission was indeed perfect for him.
Nonetheless, after hearing everything he needed, he expressed his gratitude by giving a gold coin to the merchant.
"Hahaha… You don't really have to give such a tip, but I'll accept it!" The merchant said as he pocket the coin.
"Thank you for the information." Shane said, turning back to Lysandra.
"We need to get to work. If I can infuse an object with my Fast Regeneration Skill, it could be exactly what they need. However, we have to make it a bit unique. Let's try to acquire a rare wood around here, and I can use it to carve a token."
Lysandra nodded in agreement. "That sound's a good plan. However, can a simple wood really be imbued by such a spell?"
"I'm not really sure, so I'm not planning to make too many of them yet. Let's just find some rare pieces of wood and go from there."
"Alright… But don't you think we should first find a place to stay where you also carve your tokens later?" Lysandra asked.
"That's true…"
Shane and Lysandra then wandered through the streets of the Ivory Gear Shelter, searching for a place to rest.
After a few inquiries, they found a charming hotel inn with a sign that read "The Golden Gear Inn - Free Breakfast Included."
"This looks promising," Lysandra said, pushing open the door.
Inside, the inn was warm and inviting, with polished wooden floors and a cozy fireplace. The manager, a middle-aged woman with a friendly smile, greeted them at the counter.
"Welcome to The Golden Gear Inn! How can I assist you today?" she asked.
"We'd like to book two rooms for three nights," Shane replied. "How much would that be?"
The manager's smile widened. "Each room is 2 Versailles Empire's Gold Coins per night. For three nights, that would be 12 coins in total for both rooms."
Shane nodded and handed over the coins. "Here you go. We'll take the rooms."
The manager accepted the payment and handed them two keys. "Your rooms are on the second floor. Breakfast is served from 7 to 9 AM in the dining hall. Enjoy your stay!"
"Thank you," Lysandra said, taking her key.
After settling into their respective rooms and taking refreshing baths, Shane and Lysandra changed into more comfortable clothes. They both strapped on their weapons, knowing the importance of being prepared in this unpredictable world.
"Ready to hit the market?" Shane asked as they met in the hallway.
"Absolutely," Lysandra replied with a nod. "Let's find those rare pieces of wood."
They made their way to the bustling market. This place was filled with the sounds of haggling and the scent of various goods.
The market was filled with stalls and shops, each offering unique items. However, most of them were indeed mechanical items from toys, decorations, and to weapons.
"We should split up to cover more ground," Lysandra suggested. "I'll check the eastern side, and you can take the western side."
"Sounds like a plan," Shane agreed. "Stay safe."
"You too," Lysandra said, giving him a reassuring smile before heading off.
Shane then navigated through the market, his eyes scanning for any sign of rare wood.
Well, Cloud couldn't help much with this kind of appraisal yet.
Nonetheless, Shane soon found himself in an area where craftsmen displayed their wares. Intricately carved furniture, wooden sculptures, and various tools were on display, showcasing the skill and artistry of the local craftsmen.
He approached a stall where an elderly craftsman was meticulously carving a piece of wood. "Excuse me, do you have any rare types of wood for sale?" Shane asked.
The craftsman looked up, his eyes twinkling with curiosity. "Ah, you're looking for something special, huh… Are you a craftsman? Anyway, I might have just what you need. Follow me."
Sensing that there seemed to be a business, the craftsman chose his words carefully.
Shane then followed the craftsman to the back of the stall, where he revealed a selection of rare and exotic woods.
"These are some of the finest pieces I have. Perfect for carving small sculptures or any other intricate work."
Shane examined the pieces, and he was indeed impressed by their quality.
"These things looked good. Can you give me the three different pieces of wood? I want the highest quality. Rest assured, once their quality passes, I will be buying more of them later." Shane said.
The old craftsman happily obliged and introduced the three pieces of wood.
"Of course, young man. Let me introduce you to some of the finest woods in my collection."
He then carefully picked up a piece of wood with a deep, rich red hue. "This is Crimsonheart. It's incredibly durable and resistant to decay. A piece like this would cost you 5 Versailles Empire's Gold Coins."
Next, he held up a piece with distinctive dark brown stripes on a golden-yellow background. "This is Drifterwood. Its bold aesthetic appeal and durability make it a favorite among craftsmen. It resists warping and twisting, making it ideal for intricate work. This piece is priced at 4 Versailles Empire's Gold Coins."
Finally, the craftsman presented a piece of wood with a rich, reddish-brown color and intricate grain patterns.
"And this is Pixie Oak, one of the most sought-after woods for fine furniture and carvings. It's exceptionally stable and resistant to decay even without adding chemicals. It ensures longevity even in humid environments. This piece will cost you 7 Versailles Empire's Gold Coins."
Shane was satisfied with this and purchased a piece of each of them.
As he returned to the inn, he confirmed that Lysandra hadn't returned yet, so he decided to start working. He chose not to make the design too complicated since he planned to make plenty of them.
Soon, he made a token carved with an open book and an eye at the center. Then, used his talent to fuse it with his Fast Regeneration Skill and used up only 50 Spirit Points in the process!
