Skill Forge: Broken Extra Character

Chapter 128 You wont Tell the others?

Freya raised an eyebrow at Jett's quick and sudden reaction, her curiosity deepening. "So, what've you got there?" she asked, moving closer, her eyes darting toward the box he'd just dropped on his bed.

Jett glanced at her, feigning nonchalance. "Nothing special," he shrugged, "just something I think Marcella would like."

Freya's interest only grew as she stepped even closer. "And what could that be?" she pressed, her hand reaching out toward the box. "Can I see?"

In an instant, Jett's reflexes kicked in. "Nooo!" he exclaimed, swiping her hand away before it could even graze the box.

Freya recoiled, startled by the unexpected force of his reaction. Her expression shifted from surprise to irritation. "What was that for?" she mused, her tone sharpening.

Jett winced, realizing he'd hit her hand harder than he intended. "Crap… sorry. You can't touch that." He stammered, guilt flashing across his face. His usual smooth demeanor faltered, and he found himself fumbling for an explanation.

Freya folded her arms, glaring at him. "And why not?"

Jett rubbed the back of his neck, sighing. "Look… it's not that I didn't want you to see it. It's just…" He glanced at the box, then back at her, "…the thing inside, the flower, it's delicate. Really delicate. If it's exposed to the wrong conditions, it could die almost instantly."

Freya's frown deepened. "You're telling me you hit me because of a flower?"

Jett raised his hands defensively. "I didn't mean to hit you that hard! But… you kinda acted without asking me first. If you'd touched it without knowing, it could've been ruined. And trust me, finding another one anytime soon won't be possible."

Freya's irritation softened, but not entirely. She narrowed her eyes at him. "Still, you could've said something instead of acting like a crazy person."

Jett shrugged helplessly. "Yeah, yeah, you're right. My bad. But really, just be careful around that thing, okay?"

Freya gave him a lingering glare, but she eventually sighed. "Fine. But next time, try asking before you go all ninja on me." Stay tuned for updates on мѵʟ

Jett chuckled nervously. "Deal, and next time don't be so curious."

Freya's eyes narrowed as she hissed, "You know I heard that, right?"

Jett barely stifled a sigh. "Pretty sure I wasn't whispering."

Freya, ignoring his nonchalance, continued her line of questioning. "So, what do you need it for?" She absentmindedly searched for a place to stow the box, still curious.

As Freya moved about, Jett's gaze landed on Ella, his little girl playing nearby. The sight immediately reminded him of something crucial: he had to hide the box somewhere she wouldn't mistake it for a toy. The flower was too valuable, too delicate, to leave in plain sight where Ella might get her curious hands, or fire breath, on it.

"Just making arrangements for when I leave the academy. Wouldn't want you guys dying on me when I go leave you guys for a whole year." Jett replied as he found the perfect spot.

Jett shook his head slightly, muttering to himself as he slid the box under his bed. "Nice," he murmured, satisfied that it was now out of Ella's reach.

Freya glanced at him skeptically. "You're actually going through with that?" she asked, sounding more surprised than she probably intended.

Jett raised an eyebrow at her, confused. "Well yeah, why would I bring it up if I wasn't going to go through with it?" He leaned against the bed, smirking. "You should be happy. You don't have to share a room with me for a whole year."

Freya's expression turned serious. "And what about Ella?"

Jett didn't even bother looking at her as he replied, "Oh, she's coming with me."

Freya folded her arms, her voice hardening. "Keep dreaming."

Jett turned to face her fully, amused by her resistance. "Look, you'll still be able to call on Ella when you need her." He waved a hand dismissively. "But I'm going to need her for what I've got planned."

Freya's frown deepened. "And what exactly do you have planned that involves Ella?"

Jett shrugged nonchalantly, but his eyes held a playful glint. "Don't worry, she'll be fine. You know, just helping me with a few things while I'm away. Think of it as her broadening her horizons."

Freya was unconvinced. "You're not seriously going to take her away for a whole year, Jett. She's mine, and she's staying with me."

Jett grinned, unfazed by her insistence. "Relax. She'll still be yours. I just need her help for some stuff. It's not like you won't see her. You know I'll make sure of that."

Freya stared at him, unconvinced. "Ella's not some tool you can just take whenever it suits you. She's a part of this team."

Jett waved her off. "I know, I know. But trust me, I'll keep her safe. She's in good hands with me. You can still summon her whenever. She just won't be hanging around all the time.

Besides, don't you think she could use a little adventure?"

Freya didn't look convinced but seemed to relent slightly. "This better not be one of your crazy plans, Jett."

Jett gave her a wink. "Don't worry. I've got it all under control."

Jett flopped onto his bed with a dramatic thud, rolling from side to side like he'd been reunited with it after years of separation. He sighed contentedly, sinking into the soft mattress, stretching out as if reclaiming his lost kingdom.

Freya watched with a mix of amusement and confusion. "I really don't know what goes on in that head of yours," she mused, arms crossed. "So, when are you going to tell the others?"

Jett stopped mid-roll and turned to her, his smirk fading into something more serious. "They don't need to know, we don't need to tell the anything." he replied flatly.

Freya blinked in astonishment. "What!?" Her voice rose in disbelief. "You're not going to tell them?"

The tension in the room shifted as Freya's eyes widened, frustration bubbling beneath the surface. "You've got to be kidding me, Jett! You can't just disappear for a whole year and expect no one to care."

Jett sat up slightly, leaning on his elbow, his tone still calm but with a hint of impatience. "They've got enough on their plate. Plus there'll be a good excuse so don't worry about it."

Freya stepped closer, her tone sharpening. "This isn't about them! It's about you making decisions for everyone else like they don't matter. You think they won't notice you're gone? You think they won't worry?"

Jett shrugged, his nonchalance infuriating. "They've got bigger things to focus on. They need to get stronger…" he paused, his eyes locking with hers, "especially you."

Freya recoiled slightly, her frustration intensifying. "This is your excuse? Pushing us all to get stronger while you run off on some secret mission? How is that fair? Do you even know how dumb you sound right now?"

Jett finally sat up fully, his expression softening just a little. "It's not about fair, Freya. It's about priorities. They'll be fine without me. And you…" he pointed at her, "you've got potential. Focus on that.

Don't get distracted."

Freya's lips parted, ready to argue back, but the words got stuck in her throat. She stood there, dumbfounded by his self-centered reasoning, "You really are an asshole, how did I not see that till now."

Jett yawned loudly, turning his back to her and rolling over. "Now, if you'll excuse me," he muttered, pulling his pillow close, "I need to take a nap."

Freya's fists clenched as she stared at his back, amazed at how self-centered Jett could be, but for once, she had no words left to throw at him. She stood there, speechless, as Jett drifted into his usual state of casual indifference.
