Chapter 88 - 88 I Can Help You Cancel Your Engagement with the Stone Family
Chapter 88: Chapter 88 I Can Help You Cancel Your Engagement with the Stone Family
Abigail pondered over what she would do if Lawyer Jones’ people couldn’t find Aunt Claudia before the engagement as she chatted idly. Did she have to endure the disgust and go through all the engagement processes with Clark Stone? Then she heard Brandon Piers speak.
“Do you need help?”
It was just five words. But Abigail couldn’t understand them for a moment.
What did Brandon Piers mean by help?
Abigail’s captivating eyes, brimming with suspicion, stared fixedly at the man in front of her. Was he really offering his help out of goodwill?
Brandon met those sparkling eyes full of doubt. He felt irritated and stifled. Did he look so untrustworthy?
“I can help you cancel the engagement with the Stone family.” Brandon clarified his words, making his intentions even more clear.
“No need.” Abigail understood this time. Although she didn’t know why this man in front of her wanted to help her, since the car crash incident last time, she realized that this nearly flawless-looking man had a cold heart.
Even though she hadn’t yet decided how to leave with Teddy, she knew she couldn’t owe anything to Master Brandon.
Brandon stiffened. He didn’t expect Abigail to refuse so decisively, leaving no room. Did she mean she didn’t need his help or that the engagement didn’t need to be canceled?
Or did this chubby little girl still harbor love for Clark Stone?
For some reason, Brandon’s mood suddenly soured.
Especially when he thought of the investigation showing that Abigail had gone to the hotel that night for Clark Stone.
If it weren’t for his unexpected appearance, the person Abigail would have had a relationship with that night would have been Clark Stone, and the child she bore would also have been Clark’s.
This realization made Brandon irritable.
Yet, while he was displeased, Abigail seemed unaware. She lowered her head to tease Teddy. When she looked at Brandon, her captivating eyes were cold and distant, but they were full of warmth when she faced George Piers.
“You’re all here. Let me see my dear Teddy.” Elder Piers, dressed in his training clothes, came downstairs and saw Brandon standing beside Abigail and Teddy with one hand in his pocket. He cheerfully asked without noticing the strange atmosphere between them.
Abigail picked up Teddy and handed him to Elder Piers.
Elder Piers held his great-grandson, looking at the chubby little guy with joy. He consistently praised Abigail and Kelly for taking good care of the child.
The two-month-old little guy wasn’t as timid as before. When he wasn’t crying or fussing, he would let others hold him for a while. At this moment, he was exceptionally obedient in Elder Piers’ arms. With a little tease, his big, shiny eyes turned into crescent moons, looking very much like Abigail’s captivating eyes.
Elder Piers was so happy that he didn’t want to put him down for a long time. Finally, he handed him back to Abigail when the little guy got sleepy.
In the end, Kelly took Teddy upstairs. Elder Piers invited both of them to practice boxing.
Practicing Tai Chi had become a daily routine for the three of them these days. Even some servants in the mansion had been called by Elder Piers to practice together.
However, since Abigail’s earlier refusal, Brandon had been in a bad mood. Abigail, on the other hand, seemed unaffected, which irritated him even more. After practicing for a while, his breathing became unsteady. He abruptly stopped his punches. “I have something to do. Grandpa, you keep practicing.”
After throwing out this sentence and not waiting for Elder Piers to respond, he walked back into the mansion, leaving Elder Piers bewildered. He turned his head and asked Abigail, “What’s wrong with him?”
He seemed fine just now.
“Isn’t he always like this?” Abigail replied with a rhetorical question. Usually, didn’t this young master always have this temper?
Elder Piers sighed. “Alright, I’ll take it as I didn’t ask. This chubby girl is more clueless than me.”
Abigail didn’t care about Brandon’s behavior. Although she refused Brandon’s offer, it didn’t mean she really wouldn’t resolve the engagement with the Stone family.
But with Aunt Claudia now in the hands of Rose Taylor and her daughter, she had to be cautious. Canceling the marriage also required a gradual plan.
Buzz, buzz, buzz.
As Abigail was thinking, her phone vibrated. It was Lawyer Jones.
