Reborn as Mr.CEO's Fat Wife

Chapter 87: Guilt Makes the Heart Soft

Chapter 87: Guilt Makes the Heart Soft

Mid-June had passed. The temperature in Gills City rose quickly, bringing a wave of oppressive heat.

Abigail was physically wide. Compared to others, she couldn’t stand the heat and sweated a lot. There was always a cloying sweet scent on her body that wouldn’t wash off, even when Kelly couldn’t help but remind her, afraid she would give herself away.

Fortunately, the old house was lush with plants. In the mornings and evenings, one could cool off anywhere.

Abigail loved to push Teddy and sit under the banana trees by the pond in the Imperial Garden. Aside from the refreshing breeze, she could also see the koi fish raised by the old master.

Plump and vibrant.

“Wanna eat it?” Just as Abigail was staring dazedly at the koi, a familiar voice sounded. It was as clear and gentle as always, but Abigail always felt it was slightly mocking, especially when the man leaned closer after speaking and pointed at the fattest, most vibrant red koi. “Doesn’t it look a bit like you?”

“All fat?” Abigail raised her eyes to look at the man, a hint of self-mockery in her tone.

Brandon Piers shrugged. “That’s what you said.”

“Then I’ll eat it.” Abigail pointed at the fattest one.

“Ahem…” Brandon coughed lightly. He was just watching the chubby girl in a daze and teasing her.

“Second Young Master, you wouldn’t begrudge it, would you?” Hearing the man’s embarrassed cough, Abigail asked provocatively.

Brandon didn’t expect the trick to backfire on him. He rubbed his nose with the back of his hand. “It’s not that I begrudge it. I’m just afraid Grandpa would fight me to the death.”

The koi in this pond were all meticulously selected and carefully raised by the old master. Each one was a precious specimen.

Especially the red koi he just pointed at.

“Oh.” Hearing this, Abigail responded faintly, as if very disappointed.

Brandon felt uneasy. “Why rush to fry them to death?”

“You asked first.” Abigail’s gaze remained on the koi. Clearly, they were all fat. Why were they considered treasured specimens, while she was deemed worthless?

Brandon saw Abigail staring at the koi with a burning gaze, as if she couldn’t wait to eat it right away. His heart trembled as he remembered his purpose for finding her. “Are you really planning to get engaged to Clark Stone?”

The abrupt topic change made Brandon uneasy, fearing this chubby girl would cook the pond’s most beautiful koi any second.

He believed that by then, his grandpa wouldn’t do anything to her, but he wouldn’t dare not do anything to Brandon.

“Hmm.” Knowing Brandon was changing the subject, Abigail felt disappointed. It seemed the fish really couldn’t be eaten as she responded listlessly.

Brandon didn’t quite understand. That night, he saw the chubby girl smashing Clark’s wine bottle mercilessly. Why did she now seem indifferent when mentioning their engagement?

Did she consent?

Or was there lingering affection?

A slight annoyance swept through his heart.

“Need help?” He had investigated that Abigail’s mother’s servant, whom she left for her, was imprisoned by Rose Taylor’s people. It must have been to force Abigail to compromise.

And Rose and her daughter made six million from Abigail’s marriage, while Lincoln Green got ten million from the Stone family’s investment.

As for Clark Stone, he gained a relation with Brandon Piers.

In this engagement, Abigail clearly got the short end of the stick.

Especially when he thought of the stack of information Pullan investigated. Over the past year, all her traces, from being threatened by the Taylor women while pregnant, to taking a leave from school to nourish the fetus, and later, the life-threatening ordeal during childbirth.

The detailed information about Abigail’s pregnancy and childbirth made Brandon feel a pang of pain as he looked at the listless chubby girl before him.

He couldn’t imagine the trials she went through to give birth to Teddy, nor how strong her will to live was to survive after being breathless for half an hour.

When she once lay in the corridor, unable to get up and seek his help, he not only didn’t lend a hand but stepped over her.

Guilt softened his heart. At this moment, looking at Abigail, Brandon couldn’t help but feel tender toward her.
