Chapter 108 - 108 The Man in the Secret Passage
Chapter 108: Chapter 108 The Man in the Secret Passage
“There’s someone here!”
Abigail’s keen senses told her immediately.
The morgue’s mechanism was something she had learned about while working as Dr. Smith. There was a hidden wall in Jeffrey Foster’s office that could directly lead to the hospital’s secret research institute.
Over the past few years, Sincere had been researching artificial organs. As a top-tier talent in cardiac surgery, she had naturally participated and thus knew about this escape route.
It was also the most secretive yet the simplest and least known of all the passages.
Previously, Jeffrey had planned to seal this passage, so she had taken a gamble, fearing it might have been sealed after her death. Unexpectedly, it brought her a glimmer of hope.
But what puzzled her was that this passage was little known. The average person wouldn’t be bored enough to push an entire row of morgue racks, and it wouldn’t budge without knowing the button.
But now, there was clearly someone here.
Abigail held her breath and remained still.
And that person didn’t move either.
In the pitch-black passage where one couldn’t see their hand in front of them, Abigail’s five senses became even more acute. After waiting for a minute without any movement from the other side, she finally took out her phone.
Turning on the flashlight, she carefully walked downward and then saw a man lying on the ground. She frowned and, after confirming he was not a threat, shone the light on his face, stunned. “Pullan?”
How could Pullan be here!
After the initial shock, Abigail immediately placed her hand on Pullan’s wrist. After a moment, she let go. He was alive but poisoned. She quickly opened her coat. Inside was a hidden pocket containing a row of silver needles of various sizes, a habit she had developed in her previous life while learning traditional Flowery medicine from her grandfather.
She had prepared them just in case for this medical competition. After all, using suture needles wasn’t convenient. She didn’t expect they would save her life and Pullan’s.
Abigail pulled out a needle and pricked several of Pullan’s acupuncture points, then pricked his middle finger.
“Cough, cough… cough…” The man lying on the ground suddenly started coughing. Instinctively, he tried to strike Abigail, but she pressed on his acupuncture points, making his already uncomfortable body even more dizzy. He barely opened his eyes to see Abigail’s chubby face. First, he was stunned, then he closed his eyes.
When he opened them again, realizing he wasn’t dreaming, “Miss… Miss Abigail? Why are you here?”
“Where’s Brandon Piers?” Abigail knew Brandon and Pullan were inseparable. Now that Pullan was lying here poisoned, Brandon must be in trouble.
Sure enough, hearing Brandon’s name, Pullan’s mind cleared up a bit. “Damn it, Second Young Master! You must find people fast! Dean Foster and the specialists were all taken away. They want Second Young Master to die naturally and then tell the outside world it was a surgical failure.”
“Brandon is inside?” Abigail’s face darkened further. That damn man had promised her something, yet during today’s medical competition, he sneaked in to perform surgery.
Pullan nodded firmly. “You must find someone; otherwise, the Second Young Master is done for. His surgery was already high-risk. Now, without a doctor…”
Speaking of this, the always tough-appearing Pullan’s eyes turned red.
Hearing his words, Abigail knew how dangerous Brandon’s situation was. She clenched her teeth fiercely. “Stay here and don’t move. I’ll check on him.”
“It’s no use if you go in. You need to find Dean Foster. Only he can save the Second Young Master, and you can’t even enter this door…” Pullan had already tried everything before fainting. He had no idea what the code was and couldn’t open it.
But just as Pullan finished speaking, there was a click. The previously seamless door opened, and the white light from inside illuminated the dark passage.
Jeffrey Foster had wanted to seal this passage because the defense on this side hadn’t been upgraded. The door could be opened with just three passwords.
It was also so that external aid could enter in case of an emergency inside.
Pullan was stunned, “…”
