Chapter 745: Dilemma-1

" I understand your circumstances. But why asked for my help? I am only an actor albeit famous but still an actor."

Faced with his question, Neil got quiet for a second. He was in a dilemma whether if he should reveal it or not. Seeing him hesitate, Samuel believed that his identity was exposed. As the heir of Rothschild family, a single word from him would be enough to greenlight any series. The opponent was a puny executive? Not even worth mentioning!

" Come on! You should just say it. It's not like you did anything illegal!" Noah urged from the side. He knew Neil had always been a timid fellow and in the cut-throat market of entertainment industry it was akin to a curse!

" It's just. When I was still relevant, I happen to learn that you invested your first paycheck to directly buy shares in your first movie. It's been almost a decade so I figured that you must have some connection in the industry. I just hope that you are willing to connect me to some of them.

I don't need much, I just want them to hear my proposal with a neutral perspective!" Neil bowed feeling embarrassed to ask for his help.

Samuel was almost a decade younger than him so lowering his head in front of him was akin to throwing away his pride. Everyone who starts in this industry is always full of pride and ego in the beginning much so when they tasted some success at the starting line but ultimately if they didn't humble themselves, they would only be waiting for their eventual 'demise'.

" That's it? It's not a secret about my investment in the Harry Potter franchise so you don't have to feel uncomfortable about it. I don't understand why didn't you go to someone else."

" It's just that I didn't want smaller or less known studio to take up my work. It's accumulation of my life's work, how could I let them adapt it with their sloppy directions?"

Samuel nodded, at least he wasn't completely lost his pride. From looking at him, he could tell the person really wasn't here to ask for money only a little push in the right direction. After thinking about it Samuel decided to help him, it wouldn't be hard but first he wanted to see how polished his 'gem' was.

" What's this series about? Do you have anything? I would like to see it before I make my judgement." Samuel asked.

Neil hesitated for a second, the actors were greedy bunch that much he understood when he must made the leap in this industry. What if Samuel too hit him in the back or worse divulge the completed script to BBC? What they had now was a simple synopsis along with few episode's outline nothing concrete.

" I can see the doubt in your eyes but rest assured, I would stoop so low to steal some scripts. I am only asking because I happen to own a good Studio, if I like it not to mention BBC, overseas screening would not be out of question."

Neil nodded and pulled out a stack of documents from his back and laid it on the table. Adele and Kate also came to see what was up while Nicole tactfully went inside to prepare some drinks for the guest.

She wasn't sure but seeing Samuel agreed to continue the talk and not chase them out, it was better to assume as 'guests'. Her standing as Amanda's right arm maid wasn't just for show, she was fully versed in dealing with a number of situations and had gained a wealth of knowledge over the years. Reading the room was child's play for her.

Samuel eyes went wide open just reading the title, 'The Calling'. He could never imagine the turns of event would land him to play a major hand in shaping such modern classic.

Neil conceived the series under the working title of The Calling but Samuel knew modified title for it, 'Luther'.

Luther was a British psychological crime thriller television series starring Idris Elba as DCI John Luther and Ruth Wilson as Alice Morgan. The detective Luther must make cases against criminals while the murderer Morgan has a complicated relationship with him. The first series was composed of six episodes which ran in May and June 2010.

It was safe to say, Neil would surely miss the deadline. Even if they started filming it tomorrow, there was lot of things they needed to prepare like inviting actors, matching their schedule, planning the shooting location etc.

He read through the premise and it was same as the information from the source.

John Luther was a Detective Chief Inspector working for the Serious Crime Unit. A dedicated police officer, Luther is obsessive, possessed, and sometimes violent. However, Luther had paid a heavy price for his dedication; he had never been able to prevent himself from being consumed by the darkness of the crimes with which he deals.

For Luther, the job always comes first. His dedication was a curse and a blessing, both for him and those close to him. In the very first episode of the series, he investigates brilliant psychopath and murderer Alice Morgan. Ultimately, he was unable to arrest her due to lack of evidence, but as the series progresses, she becomes both his nemesis and unlikely companion.

It was a intriguing plot, no matter how he read it. It was strange seeing it suddenly pop in front of him but he could help but smile seeing the script. It was complete and riddled with small notes and paragraph for the directors. Safe to say, it must be the original copy the one and only.

" What do you think the final budget of the first season would be?" he asked straight out.

" How do you know if it will have future seasons?" Neil who kept waiting asked because he was surprised. He felt hopeful when he saw him smile prior but the speed at which Samuel flipped though it made him realize he was only acting to be interested. No human could read at that speed right?

" Six episodes are too little to flesh out every character. I read everything, there doesn't seem to a conclusion to the story yet."

Neil though Samuel was joking, it was obvious from his face so Samuel went into great detail and even pointed out some mistakes. Everyone was flabbergasted seeing him remember every detail right down to the dot!
