Chapter 744: Strange Visitor-2
" What's this about?" Samuel sat down with them still glaring at them. By now, he knew Noah wasn't chasing after Nicole or Kate, he was trying to get closer to Samuel because of his friend who was sitting alongside him trying hard not to face Samuel.
Kate, Adele and Nicole were also curious about the stranger, he seemed to have a backstory to him. The man seemed few year older than Noah, probably in his early thirties and from the clothes he was wearing, he seemed to be doing fine.
With a balding head and a sleek spectacle, his background seemed to be related to academics at least that's what Samuel concurred while looking at him.
" I am really sorry to intrude on you so frequently-"
" It's not me who feel uncomfortable. I already warned you that it's shameful to target my people when they clearly are not interested in you."
" Eh?"
" Hmm?" Both parties looked blankly at each other. There seemed to be a huge misunderstanding. Noah immediately understood why Samuel was being so defensive about it.
" I have a wife and a daughter! Please don't assume such things about me!" He even slammed the table while exclaiming his innocence. Samuel already guessed it but he wanted to make sure, just in case.
" Fine, I believe you. Why do you came to see me then?"
" We didn't know when you will return back to London so we decided to take the chance even if you feel disrespected. It's only because my friend is in dire need for your support." Noah composed himself and got to the point.
" Support?" Samuel felt like his cover was blown. In his mind, support translated to money which meant other party was aware about his real identity which was hardly surprising considering he had been flaunting it in front of so many elites in recent months.
" Umm....my name is Neil Cross and I am a novelist and scriptwriter." Noah's friend Neil began to tell about his visit.
Apparently he worked a number of years in the movie industry and even had his novel adapted back in 2001. It did alright enough to launch his career in the industry. But in recent years because he offended some senior writers, he was slowly being pushed out of the circle.
Few years back he had written few episodes for a well known thriller series, it was his speciality. It did good numbers pulling in substantial viewer rating making it most watched episode in the whole series but at that time he was still a junior writer working under the lead scriptwriter.
That writer had connections to the BBC and the senior staffs in the television network. Due to him being overshadowed by his much junior writer, he began to resent him blocking his path to success and eventually managing to kick him out under bogus premise.
Coupled with the rumours circulated by the same person, it was hard for Neil to find another gig. He wasn't deterred by it and took couple of years off to come up with his own original crime thriller series and finally pitched it to the BBC network.
After all it was the leading brand in Britain and if he somehow manage to convince them to invest in the series he would finally be able to break away from his past shackles. But to his surprise, that writer in the time when Neil was busy with writing, managed to climb the rank landing a executive job in BBC.
With him being in charge of overseeing the television department for the corporation, it was hard for him to get the approval even when he put his life's work into it. That writer knew the potential immediately when he read through the script and pulled some strings behind the scene to disquality Neil, it seemed he still had grudge against the writer who bested him few years ago!
For months, Neil went around different studios trying to get someone to look into his script but to no avail. His nemesis seemed to have tentacles in every studio putting strange rumours about him ahead of time.
Ultimately the only offer he got was that many people were willing to buy the script outright without giving him much credit, what's more it was for dirt cheap price. He also heard the BBC began to develop their own version of the series changing things around a little to avoid the copyright issue.
Even if he was sure that their script wouldn't be as good as him, if they released it first theirs would become the parent from where he took inspiration from. The public would surely gobble it up because BBC was a large conglomerate with limitless resource.
His life's work would be ruined, nothing better than a superior imitation of a lousy BBC show! He didn't want it to happen.
In this troubled times, he went to only one place where he could find some solace: The church. Even if he wasn't religious, at least with some faith he still had some hope that everything would turn out for the better.
Noah was someone that he met during coincidently on his church visit. His family lived in this town and it being the only church, they would see each other often. He finally opened up to Noah few months ago, at least with him he wouldn't feel the need to always keep his guard up.
Seeing how depressed and helpless Neil was, Noah offered few words of advice and listened to his grumblings which flourished their friendship.
It was a surprise when Noah came to him yesterday to inform him about Samuel's appearance in their quaint town. For Neil it was a sign from God. He immediately asked for his friends help, that's reason why they were sitting in front of Samuel.
" I understand your circumstances. But why asked for my help? I am only an actor albeit famous but still an actor." Samuel wanted to now why they would seek him out specifically.
