Chapter 741: Recording-1

It was almost noon, when Samuel had a visitor to the booth. Adele carrying the list of songs came inside and acted like the morning event didn't happen. He didn't really care as it was convenient for him too. They could solely focus on recording songs first since they didn't have much time.

" Have you chosen which one to add to the list?"

" Yes, I think this one is perfect. It's a sad love song which fits well with the overall theme of the album." She pointed to a specific song.

"Echoes of a Love Lost? That's a great choice. What about singles? Will you leave it to Russell or add few of my songs?" Since album was set to have twelve songs, there was still two more songs that needed to be added to it.

" This one! I really like this!" She said excitedly. 'Fading' a melodramatic song with a soft tone emphasizing more on her vocal prowess. Samuel knew she could pull it off and wrote it with her voice in mind.

Since they were done with the selection, he began to play the specific tunes that he prepared yesterday. They were rough around the edges but she could get a feel to how the end product would sound.

She hummed the tune couple of times burning it into her memory. It showed her mastery over music since she was able to dance her words along the beat after a couple of tries. Pitching up somewhere between blues, folk and jazz, she's included something for everyone without ever pandering to a particular trend.

Her voice was truly unique and held the same weight from the first time he heard it. Truly her singing is a thing to behold! He might have the system for his powers meanwhile her voice was a cumulation of years of hard work and grinding!

" What do you think? You can ask if you want to change something."

" I will leave it to you. I didn't realized that you even recorded some dummy tracks for me to follow along."

" It's only a suggestion and my own interpretation. You can change it to your own style, it's your album after all."

" Great! I have a couple of ideas. I will be in the booth then!" She was excited as her head was filled with a myriad of different ideas. Samuel went along with her and gave some instruction to operate the equipments. It wasn't her first time in the booth but each booth had different feel and sophistication to it, especially this one that had newer models.

There was a small sofa inside where she could sit down and plan. With room being soundproof, the only thing an artist could hear was their own thoughts and breathing.

He closed the door and waited for her while fine tuning the melody. Listening to her interpretation gave enough clues to him about the post production work. There was a large catalogue of samples and assets to choose from, thankfully he didn't have to go through everything since his brain remembers everything and could create stuff in it just like any modern computer.

After half and hour of practicing, Adele finally took to the mic to sing the first version of the Fading. Samuel gave her a go ahead sign before operating the system to bring up the relevant tune.

The song had a soft melody introduction followed by damped piano tune to give a harrowing feel. He specifically designed the intro to matched the song prior so that the whole album flowed seamlessly like a big track.

~In the shadows of the night, where the moonlight softly gleams,

I find myself lost in dreams, haunted by your distant beams.~

~Every whisper of the wind carries echoes of your name,

In this cruel game, our hearts forever aflame.~

She sang the first verge perfectly, there was only one or two errors which was negligible compared to the time she needed to prepare for it. Samuel on the hand was moving at lightning speed mixing in relevant tunes, it was like the melody had a life of it's own and was evolving along with her flow.

~In the depths of my despair, where the tears begin to flow,

I'm drowning in the undertow of a love I'll never know.~

~Every heartbeat like a drum, echoing your symphony,

In this tragic harmony, our souls forever free.~

The second verse was in a higher tune, it was the built up to the chorus so she had to conserve her voice so that she could explode in the next part. Samuel was impressed again by her voice, it would be difficult to find anyone more talented than her in current times!

~Oh, our love, a tale of woe,

Where passion's fire once did glow.

In the echoes of our cries,

Our love forever lies.~

She finished the Chorus on a high note before other symphonies mixed in to create a orchestra like effect. He attached around forty microphones completely filling up the output socket just to prepare different assets last night all for this moment.

She went through other verses and gave her all like it was the final recording. There were more mistakes as she went on probably because it was hard for her to envision the whole song in one sitting.

Regardless, she finished the whole song in one take which was monumental if one wanted to do it perfectly. By the end of it she was panting because it was a tough song with plenty of points where she had to stretch her voice and even sing beyond high notes.

" How was it?" She asked.

" We have to work more on it. I have marked down the point where you made mistakes but don't worry about it. Everyone makes mistake, I can polish it during post production but I know you would like to keep it natural."

" Yes, I will review it."

" Good, just sit here then. I should record my part more seriously in the meantime."

" Do I need to push anything here?" She was overwhelmed seeing all the controls lying on the table.

" I already took care of it. Oh? If you like to hear it you can put on this headset." After reminding it he walked to the booth.

It didn't take long before Adele heard him sing. His magical voice completely captured her attention, it was like a whole new world opened to her. She never really heard him sing his heart out before which was why she was that much shocked to hear it.
