Chapter 152: Chapter 98: Spell Card: Shadow Cloak

Aiwass hadn't anticipated such an overwhelming reaction from Yulia after only a week of attending school.

But Yulia's will was strong and unwavering. Upon seeing Aiwass, she refused to let him leave, clinging to him, imploring him to share details about the people he met and the events he encountered at school. Her reasoning was quite justified, leaving Aiwass speechless—

Yulia asked him, "Is school such a dangerous place that after only a week, Brother has experienced two assassination attempts?"

She made too much sense, and Aiwass found himself at a loss for words.

With no choice, Aiwass sat by her bed and recounted the week's events to Yulia.

As he spoke, Yulia couldn't help but yawn gently.

Yulia had a biological clock comparable to that of a primary school child. She could only stay up late reading or studying; usually around nine, she had to get ready to sleep.

Yulia was quick-witted; usually confined to the house, she could only quietly read books alone.

Like Aiwass, who was obsessed with Demonology yet had a natural talent for the Path of Devotion, Yulia also showed interest and aptitude in the arcane. However, her focus was mostly on astrology, alchemy, and preservation arts—her talent in alchemy was far greater than Aiwass's.

Moriarty Manor was home to many arcane books, but the nine Paths were not equally represented. Knowledge of the Paths of Beauty, Transcendence, and Dusk was almost nonexistent, while there were plenty of materials related to the Paths of Balance, Wisdom, and Authority.

Especially the Path of Balance... Old Moriarty seemed to be a Transcendent of the Path of Balance, but he never displayed his alchemical skills in front of his children, so Aiwass didn't know his exact level.

—Had it not been for the Phantom Demon residing within her delaying Yulia, preventing her from attending school normally, perhaps by now Yulia could have skipped grades to become Aiwass's senior.

Nevertheless, Yulia still longed for school.

One reason Aiwass had originally decided not to go to university was because Yulia envied him too much—clearly if she attended school, her grades would be much higher than Aiwass's, which made him feel sorry for her at that time. So, he simply chose not to attend school and read books at home with her instead.

But now, Aiwass had returned home with stories from university.

Naturally, Yulia didn't want to sleep. She sat in her blanket, struggling to stay awake, eager to chat more with Aiwass.

However, seeing his sister a bit sleepy, Aiwass, using a lullaby he had learned from Isabel, easily coaxed the sleepy Yulia to sleep. Aiwass did not possess the level of the Path of Beauty, so his lullaby didn't have mystical power. Yulia was genuinely lulled to sleep by his soft singing.

The previous night, Aiwass was just planning to check Yulia's physical condition to see if the Defiant Flame Butterfly was awakening. Instead, Yulia made him stay, but he also enjoyed such a peaceful interaction. There was a sense of tranquility in accompanying family that could relax his tense nerves.

Edward's seal was in good condition, and the Spell Card that Aiwass had given Yulia to nurture was gradually showing some spiritual essence. If nothing unforeseen happened, the Defiant Flame Butterfly should recover by this time next week—by then, Aiwass could start preparing for the sealing.

But he didn't plan to seal it before progressing on the Path of Transcendence.

Because the Defiant Flame Butterfly was a Phantom Demon of the Path of Devotion, purely of a flame attribute, devoid of any darkness.

Although both sealing and summoning came from the rituals of the Path of Transcendence, the power itself belonged to the Path of Devotion. Hence, this was a power Aiwass could use openly in his Priest role, a strength he could legitimately use in public—unlike the secretive Shadow Demon.

Therefore, it was better for Aiwass not to use this power in his other identity on the Path of Transcendence during the advancement ceremony, as this could potentially lead to exposure.

To seal the Defiant Flame Butterfly before progressing would just be causing unnecessary trouble. The New Moon Ritual was already difficult, and Aiwass, being cautious, did not want to needlessly increase the complexity.

If Yulia's condition were poor, Aiwass would have gone ahead with the seal despite the increased difficulty. But since the current seal was stable, he could wait until after his advancement ceremony to seal it.

The evening of the following Sunday would be the advancement ceremony for the Path of Transcendence. The day after the advancement, Aiwass would seal the Defiant Flame Butterfly at night.

—But next week, Aiwass first had to deal with those from the Noble Red Society.

Using an Upper-Level Demon for public assassination attempts, even suspecting an attack on Sherlock... it was possible they would make a second attempt or employ other means against Aiwass.

So, Aiwass directly leveled up his Demon Scholar profession from six to nine, and his Dark Attribute Mana Pool was also elevated to nine points:

Demon Scholar LV9: [Demonology Knowledge-2nd Level (97%)], [Basic Ritual-2nd Level (0%)], [Demonic Pact-3rd Level (80%)], [Shepherd's Nurturing (Essence)-2nd Level (0%)]

"Demonology Knowledge" and "Demonic Pact" levels could be put on hold for a bit, as two levels could be rapidly increased after the advancement. As long as Aiwass refrained from further reading on Demonology Knowledge, the skill would not continue to rise—while using the Shadow Demon's power would cause the Demonic Pact level to slowly increase.
