One thousand twenty-four crystalline creatures awaited him there. Their elongated, brilliant bodies covered every surface, but what was truly disconcerting wasn't the enemies themselves, but the reflections they created.

Elio brandished his sword, cutting through the first three creatures, but the resulting fragments only multiplied the visual chaos. Each piece of broken silicon became a new reflective surface, creating a labyrinth of light where it was impossible to distinguish the real from the reflected.

Elio saw his own figure repeated infinite times, each movement replicated in thousands of different angles. His perception, normally an advantage, began to work against him.

His mind tried to process each reflection as a potential threat. He saw his arm move right in one mirror while another reflection showed the same movement from behind. Hundreds of versions of himself executing similar actions but that began to appear slightly out of phase in time.

"Where...?" Elio lost his balance for a moment. His brain couldn't reconcile the contradicting visual signals. Was he standing? Leaning? Each reflective surface showed him a different perspective of his own position.

Elio found himself doubting his own location in space… was it he who was moving, or just another reflection?

"I can't..." Elio staggered, momentarily losing his orientation. The tubular silicon creatures took advantage of his confusion, surrounding him while generating crystalline barriers to protect themselves.

The memory of training with magnesium flashes returned to him.

His hearing wasn't as precise as when using the metamorphosis potion, but it would have to suffice.

He had no choice but to close his eyes. The creatures weren't particularly resistant, but the battle had become a struggle against his own overloaded perception.

With eyes closed, Elio concentrated on his mana.

Now he could use fourteen points of instant power, not much considering the number of enemies, but each well-used combo could make the difference.

His attacks came in quick, precise bursts. 4 points here, 6 there, dividing his attention between groups of enemies.

The sound of breaking crystals confirmed his hits. Several hundred creatures had been destroyed in the first attack.

He didn't need to see to know that the creatures' barriers fell before each impact just before giving way to the following waves of magic to finish off their creators.

The battle became an exercise in efficiency. Each group of instant mana points he released eliminated dozens of creatures at once.

The silicon barriers they tried to form were destroyed faster than they appeared.

It wasn't elegant or elaborate, just explosions of concentrated power striking again and again, taking advantage of the fact that the enemies, though numerous, weren't particularly resistant.

When he finally opened his eyes, the chamber was covered in crystalline fragments.

Not a single reflection moved among them.
