Richelle Dunn corrected, “Not one, two!”
Mr. Chapman seemed a bit confused, “Eh? Not one? How did it become two?”n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
Richelle grinned.
“The new members I originally wanted to admit were two. My mentor stuffed one person in, so I planned to select one more from the hospital. Now that Isabelle Bailes doesn’t qualify, doesn’t it mean there are two places open?”
Mr. Chapman was overjoyed, “No, I thought you have many outstanding classmates or junior and senior students as candidates. I didn’t expect that all of them would be selected from within the hospital?”
Richelle nodded, “Our hospital’s talent is among the top in the Federation. Aside from the military hospital, this is it. In addition, I have been working with the young backbone of our hospital for so long, and I always find them very good and excellent.”
And so, it was settled.
In the afternoon, Richelle returned to the Lewis Group.
After the meeting, she opened the stock market web page, looked at the Dunn Group’s stock price, compared some data from the previous few companies that were acquired, and then clicked on the trading button. She bought all the Dunn Group’s stocks that were on the market under several individual investors’ names.
Just as she finished buying, Nathan Caroule knocked on the door and came in.
“Dr. Dunn, The Grand Forte Group in Forcas is interested in taking over the Dunn Group, it’s about time if you want to step in.”
Richelle Dunn smiled and spread her hands at him, “I’ve already spent half of your brother Roy’s pocket money.”
Nathan Caroule gave her a thumbs up, “Awesome!”
Richelle Dunn further asked him, “Where did the Grand Forte Group release the news?”
Nathan Caroule said, “In the Forcas business circle. It wasn’t announced by them, it’s just a rumor spread by others. But the CEO and higher management of the Grand Forte Group are also in the circle. They’ve been heatedly discussing this for nearly two hours. The Grand Forte Group has not denied it, apparently intended to let the public opinion ferment, and then wait for Harris Dunn to seek a talk with them.”
The trick was a usual cunning move for savvy folks.
Especially for Harris Dunn at the moment, who was in a desperate situation. Selling a portion of the shares for a chance to keep the Dunn Group going was his only option.
Of course, he was hoping that the company could get a good price for its shares.
But now, Royce Gyons simply wasn’t willing to negotiate with him.
Royce Gyons was representing United Ventures, and United Ventures was an industry indicator in the investment market.
United Ventures had originally negotiated well, but now they had urgently shelved their acquisition and investment plans. The information they revealed was enough to deter insiders.
Harris Dunn was initially hoping that United Ventures could rescue him and the Dunn Group from the deep waters. But he didn’t expect that United Ventures was partly responsible for the situation he finds himself in today.
Harris Dunn had been rejected everywhere he turned to seek help. Then he heard the rumor that the Grand Forte Group was willing to acquire some shares and hurriedly called Mr. Harrington of the Grand Forte Group.
“Mr. Harrington, I heard that you find our Dunn Group’s business quite interesting. Shall we talk?”
He got straight to the point, not even bothering with the courtesy.
Mr. Harrington of the Grand Forte Group, being a cunning old fox, wondered when he heard his disclosure.
“Who are you?”
Harris Dunn felt the insolence and condescension. He was furious inside, but he had to suppress his anger and introduce himself with respect.
“Sorry for the intrusion Mr. Harrington. I am Harris Dunn of the Dunn Group. I would like to discuss potential business cooperation with you.”
Hubert Harrington yelped, “Mr. Dunn? You’re taking care of such matters now? Where’s your dad?”
In reality, Jayden Dunn has been in seclusion and focusing on his Wooden Fish for quite some time. Anyone in the Federation that knew Jayden should also know of this.
Because, two to three months ago, many people thought it was a joke.
However, everyone thought that Jayden was just putting on a show to confuse people.
But as time passed, it seemed like Jayden was really going into seclusion, not even appearing at social events anymore.
Even the Dunn Group that he had cherished for decades was now left entirely to Harris Dunn.
Gradually, these people started to believe that he was serious about it.
“Mr. Harrington, you might not know. My father has not been feeling well for the past two to three months. He has been resting at home, and I am now fully responsible for the Dunn Group.”
Hubert Harrington acknowledged, “Is that so, but as far as I know, we’ve never had any business cooperation with the Dunn Group? I wonder what exactly you wanted to discuss with me, Mr. Dunn?”
Hubert Harrington was playing dumb, completely shaking off the rumors in the group.
The more he did so, the lesser the bargaining power Harris Dunn had.
Harris Dunn was secretly anxious. He cursed Hubert Harrington in his mind for being an old fox, but he still forced a smile while talking to Hubert Harrington.
“Our Dunn Group is currently seeking a corporate partner to complement the areas where we lack and achieve a win-win situation for both parties. The Grand Forte Group is the top choice of ours.”
Hubert Harrington pondered for a moment, “Mr. Dunn, I’m sorry, but your proposal is quite sudden. We weren’t prepared for this. Let me discuss this with our board of directors first. Once you have a detailed plan, we can talk further.”
In other words, he was hinting for Harris Dunn to make an offer.
But in business, the one who makes the first offer, usually means the initiative would be in the hands of the other party.
At this point, Harris Dunn was seeking help, having already lost his right to speak first. What Mr. Harrington said, he could only agree on.
Although Harris Dunn was not pleased, he realized that this was a pretty good start.
At least, Hubert Harrington mentioned discussing this with his board of directors, and even asked for a cooperation proposal from him.
That meant he was willing to continue the discussion.
This was a rare turn of events and a glimmer of hope for Harris Dunn.
If you consider all the calls he has made these past few days, except for his call to Hubert Harrington who presented the possibility of a further discussion, all of them were outright rejections.
While Harris Dunn continued to seek help and hit walls elsewhere,
On Richelle’s end, as soon as the three children got home, Timothy rushed into Richelle’s arms and asked her.
“Mommy, did you buy all of Dunn Group’s stocks this afternoon?”
Richelle nodded, reaching out to rub the little boy’s high-arching nose in her arms.
“Yes, didn’t you buy?”
Timothy shook his head with a giggly smile, “Of course not, I took advantage of the class break to buy Dunn Group stocks with all the disposable funds I had. Just a few minutes after I finished buying, all the stocks were bought out. I thought, a financial backer so generous and big-hearted, it could only be my mommy!”
Richelle chuckled.
“Yes, apart from my generous heart, and my silly son at my place, who would be so foolish to buy a continuously falling stock.”
Say this, Richelle suddenly thought of a question.
“How did you determine the timing for the investment?”
