Chapter 465: Chapter 465: Could She Have Such an Intention?
“What a coincidence?” Chen Jiahai, dressed in a suit and leather shoes, extended his hand towards Luo Ziling with a smile, “I didn’t expect to meet Mr. Luo and Huihui here.”
Luo Ziling’s hands were full, carrying plates, so he had to put one down before he awkwardly said, “I didn’t expect to meet Mr. Chen here.”
After a brief handshake, Chen Jiahai turned to Ouyang Huihui and said, “Huihui looks really beautiful today, just like a goddess.”
“Does a woman not dress to please herself?” Ouyang Huihui, holding a grudge from the last time Chen Jiahai disrupted her birthday party, replied unkindly, “I’m sorry, Mr. Chen, we’re going to eat now and won’t disturb your meal.”
Chen Jiahai hadn’t expected Ouyang Huihui to respond like that, making it clear she dressed up for Luo Ziling, and was unwilling to give him face, rejecting further conversation. This infuriated Chen Jiahai.
However, his face stiffened for just a moment before he recovered his composure.
“Alright then, we’ll talk another time,” Chen Jiahai said gracefully, nodding towards Ouyang Huihui and then addressing Luo Ziling, “If you’re free, let’s have tea together sometime.”
Recently, Chen Jiahai had many people scouting for information on Luo Ziling but had not uncovered anything useful.
He was surprised to find that many people were intentionally concealing information about Luo Ziling.
Considering the events at Ouyang Huihui’s birthday party, where Luo Ziling showed no fear of these wealthy young masters, coupled with the Ouyang sisters’ special treatment of Luo Ziling, his good relationship with Yang Qingyin, and the fact that someone was deliberately hiding information about him, Chen Jiahai deduced that Luo Ziling’s identity was far from simple.
Since he hadn’t heard about the past grudges between the Luo and Yang families from the older generation, nor knew about Luo Ziling’s father stealing Yang Qingyin’s uncle’s fiancée, he didn’t consider this angle.
He believed that Luo Ziling might be the illegitimate child of a very influential member of a clan, someone who was preparing to acknowledge Luo Ziling and bring him back home, hence the situation. But regardless, he knew that Luo Ziling was an extraordinary person.
Of course, thinking that Chen Wanqing could easily ruin Luo Ziling was an oversimplification. This young man could withstand Chen Wanqing’s temptations and openly oppose so many powerful families; his abilities and confidence were extraordinary. To have gained the recognition of the Ouyang sisters and Yang Qingyin highlighted just how seriously Chen Jiahai needed to take Luo Ziling as a formidable opponent.
The unexpected encounters he had faced were the consequences of his underestimation, although the results hadn’t been serious, and he hadn’t suffered any losses, his pride had been hurt. Another important point was that the Ouyang sisters, Feifei and Huihui, might have been charmed by Luo Ziling, this “pig”.
The thought of Luo Ziling possibly winning over the Ouyang sisters, Feifei and Huihui, made his heart burn with murderous rage.
But in the end, he just smiled and watched Luo Ziling and Ouyang Huihui return to their private room.
“Not happy anymore?” On the way back to the private room, Ouyang Huihui noticed Luo Ziling’s lack of a smile and asked softly, “I didn’t expect to bump into Chen Jiahai here.”
Logically, a profligate heir like Chen Jiahai shouldn’t appear in this kind of average seafood buffet restaurant—Ouyang Huihui thought that a restaurant of this caliber was definitely below Chen Jiahai’s standard. Unexpectedly, they ran into him here, which also affected her mood.
In the eyes of the older generation, Chen Jiahai had a good image. He was capable, tolerant, and strategic, someone who could achieve great things. Therefore, many sought to marry their daughters to him.
Ouyang Huihui knew that Chen Jiahai had been pursuing her sister and was also interested in her. She originally didn’t have a bad impression of Chen Jiahai, but after the incident at her last birthday party, her impression of him had soured.
It wasn’t just Chen Jiahai who left a bad impression on him; he also had no fondness for the others, including Yang Qingye.
The reason he didn’t think highly of Yang Qingye was because the guy had no filter in rashly calling him “brother-in-law.”
“No worries, let’s just go with the flow,” Luo Ziling, having not expected Ouyang Huihui to dismiss Chen Jiahai in such a manner today, was quite pleased and responded with a smile, “He won’t be joining us for dinner, so what’s there to worry about? Are you afraid he’ll come over and fight us for food, or come to toast? With me here, he wouldn’t dare come over and toast.”
“As if you can drink!” Ouyang Huihui teased, shooting him a playfully stern look.
Seeing the two of them chatting and laughing as they entered the private room, the looks of the other three men and three women were all drawn to them.
Feeling the strange looks in their eyes, Luo Ziling was a bit uncomfortable, but Ouyang Huihui appeared completely at ease.
Although the mood was somewhat dampened by the presence of Chen Jiahai, dinner was still quite enjoyable.
Ouyang Huihui spent most of her time talking to Luo Ziling, and the other six seemed to understand not to intrude, keeping to themselves in conversation.
Ouyang Huihui’s two roommates, whom he had met at the previous birthday gathering, and the other young lady, whom they had dined with yesterday at noon, made the atmosphere free of any awkwardness, and they all chatted merrily.
Although Cao Jianhui was pursuing Lin Lin, his generous attention to the girls didn’t yield just because of his pursuit, and he was even more eager than the other two guys to court favor.
During dinner, he persistently encouraged the girls to sing karaoke with them that night.
However, Luo Ziling and Ouyang Huihui had no plans to sing, with Ouyang Huihui saying they could all hang out another time and Luo Ziling mentioning he was tired and wanted to sleep. Ultimately, Cao Jianhui thought they wanted some private time for a date, and so he cooperatively suggested that the six of them would go to karaoke without concerning themselves with the well-being of Luo Ziling and Ouyang Huihui.
This proposal suited everyone, and so after dinner, the group of eight split up.
What surprised Luo Ziling was that Ouyang Huihui insisted on driving back herself, sending the bodyguard who was in the car on his way.
The bodyguard had no choice but to agree to Ouyang Huihui’s demands to come back in an hour to Yan University’s parking lot to drive the car back.
While driving the minivan back to school alone with Luo Ziling, Ouyang Huihui boasted with some pride, “This car is really quite nice. You can’t see inside from the outside, and whatever you do inside, people outside won’t have a clue.”
Her words sent a shiver down Luo Ziling’s spine; this woman’s remark was too provocative.
He was no longer the naïve village boy cut off from the internet, but a new-age youth who went online every day.
He remembered a particularly suggestive term called “car Z,” and couldn’t help but wonder if Ouyang Huihui had similar intentions.
With this thought, Luo Ziling immediately heightened his vigilance.
