The Earth After Rebirth

Chapter 437 Oncoming Company

"I swear, when I get my hands on Blakeson, he's going to regret his entire life decisions." Jesús expression was unreadable but his words were clearly angry.

Sekani was feeling exactly as he felt but had no words for him, he just pat him on the back and they got out of the cave. Nikolai had already drilled through and so they helped the people to walk through the tunnel Nikolai had just made.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om

It was extremely slow walking from the top of the mountain to the train at the bottom. The estimated number of the people chained together like this were around eight hundred.

Some were even fainting in the middle of walking, if it was someone heavy the queue would slow down a bit but also dragging him along. They were like mindless zombies.

These people reminded Nikolai of the zombies they were once fought in Asgard. This made him wonder whether the likeness was taken from this mine, since gods were involved and they made the game, it wasn't too farfetched.

"I can see the train!" He exclaimed excitedly.

Before long they were standing in front of the train. Nikolai walked closer to break the chains from their legs but something amazing happened, the person hissed at him.

"Nikolai, get away from there. Slowly." Sekani loudly said.

He did as he was told. They not have been made to be attached to the mine or their tools. But they knew very well of the punishment of even touching the chain.

Sekani was about to this himself when he remembered something that bothered him. He wanted to scream on the inside, they had completely left Arnold Black's body back at the west gate.

"Dammit. Wilfred I'll leave the job to get them in the train in your hands," not that he didn't trust the rich folks but he just didn't think they had the tenacity to deal with people like them.

"Nikolai, let's go get your father." Nikolai's eyes widened, he'd also forgotten. He was tired from drilling the hole but he didn't want to burden Sekani more than he already had so he obliged.

"I'll come too." Jesús said not wanting to stay behind for whatever this was.

Nobody said anything, Wilfred simply nodded and went straight to work after putting James inside the train. He had a baton in hand, any person that tried to attack him he would hit them on the head.

Not enough that they would die but enough that they would either get knocked out completely unconscious or back off. They didn't have the luxury to play nice with them at this time.

The three hiked back up the mountain, a little bit if regret hovering in the air for not dragging Arnold's dead body with them to the middle of the mine.

But it was a risk they weren't exactly willing to take as they had no idea what awaited them at that mine. If they knew, rest assured they would've completely dragged him.

One would think since they'd walked this road before it would be a little easier. But it was harder than the first climb, they felt like entire worlds were put on their shoulders, making their knees shake occasionally.

'Man, I thought I was much tougher than this.' Sekani was absolutely tough, but he also spent the entire night fighting it was only natural that his body felt a little bit overused.

Nikolai could feel his lung complaining, it hadn't yet healed completely and he was already putting so much stress into it. The unharmed one was also suffering since it needed to do twice as much and it was on the verge of collapse.

"Hey kid, get on my back."

"Huh?" Nikolai was surprised that Jesús was offering, especially because despite his healthy lungs he was falling back.

"Don't think about it just hop on."

"You'd just fall? I think."

Sekani wasn't paying attention he just happened to turn back at that moment and saw the distance between him and the people he was climbing with. If he trusted his legs to keep moving after they stopped he would've waited but he went back to them instead and kept the same pace.

"What's up? Why are you so slow?" It hadn't come to him yet he just knew that he had climbed this before with Nikolai and he wasn't too bad.

"My lung," he took a deep painful breath that pierced through his chest. He clutched his chest and continued, "I don't think it's fully healed."

"Right. How dumb of me to not consider it. What's your excuse Silva?"

Jesús looked annoyed, "I'm old." He said without missing a beat.

Sekani would have laughed if he wasn't going through something too, he whistled loudly instead.

"Well Nikolai, to preserve your strength, jump on my back I'll carry you to the top." He offered too.

"Huh? No!" It would be completely embarrassing, he couldn't have that. "What's with both of you offering to carry me?"

"Silva did? Wouldn't he just fall?"

Their lack of trust on him made the back of his legs waver. They suddenly felt cramped but he was not going to give in.

"I was just trying to help." His voice came out hot and bothered.

"See Sir? I think he needs this ride more than I." It was had speaking, but making jokes like this made this run more bearable.

"It will certainly be strange carrying an old man like him but no man should be left behind, Silva hop on!" Sekani yelled even though he was close enough to be heard.

If his legs allowed him, Jesús was sure he would jump at the chance but not really seriously just to play along with their joke but he could be bothered.

He didn't mind being the butt of the joke and so it went on like this until they saw themselves right in front of Arnold Black's body. They all say down taking a break.

The sun was already sinking, Sekani had given up at this point. He was in trouble with his wife, he was thinking of ways to soothe her raging heart when his ears picked up on something.

A lot of heavy footsteps were running their way. It wasn't long before his two companions heard the same thing, they looked at him scared.

"Shh," He gestured with his finger too.
