Chapter 410 Wilfred's Capabilities
Sekani was on his feet now, pacing the his entire office, it was a big a space so it was quite the exercise but he did it nonetheless.
"Sir, please calm down."
"Yeah I'm sure the first time you saw all this you were all calm." He didn't mean to snap but he wasn't apologetic for it.
"Right, I'm sorry sir." Wilfred understood and he took another sip of his drink, waiting for his master to say something, anything.
"How many people were there?"
His face didn't show it but his heart was smiling widely. To Wilfred this all meant that Sekani hadn't forgotten why he'd taken this task, it was to save the people and here he was, instead of asking about the structure first, he was asking about the people that were taken against their will.
"I couldn't count them all even in the week I've been there. But I'm confident there were more than five hundred people there and about fifty were children, raging from their early teens to their late teens."
He nodded finally taking a sit. Wilfred offered to pour him a drink but he refused, he wanted to be sober for this, all of it, it was too delicate of a matter to handle it otherwise.
That was for sure what he told himself, but he wasn't exactly someone who could hold his liquor.
"Is there a way to get cars up there?" He didn't think there was but he asked anyway.
"No car roads going in or coming out of those parts. They really planned it well, it's hidden by a little forest. It's about a five kilometres walk from the road to the mines but I noticed a railway from another side."
"That's good news at least, does the railway work?"
"It should, part of why I took this long, I cleared out some tracks in that forest. A train should be able to enter the small forest, close enough to not be seen."
Sekani already knew that Wilfred was a capable man, this made him see him in another light entirely. Taking his time to plan ahead to ensure a lot of these people were able to be brought back to normal society was impressive.
"Great job Wilfred, how is the security up there? How many guards, guns?"
He let out a breath that stunk of alcohol, "that will be a tricky one with just the two of us. It's tightly guarded. They have guns too, to both scare the people they kidnapped and to keep outsiders away. As far as I've seen, nobody was even remotely trying to escape. It was as though they'd given up on life. Their eyes sir..."
His mind immediately went to the kids his son Kiro found in that underground ring. He hadn't seen anything but Kiro described everything to him, it felt like something like that. He had no idea what these people did to make them give up like that.
"If it's too much for just the two of us, then maybe we should enlist help? I know you were against this originally but I think we will need the help of Dean Whitmore and Silva. Kiro said they were to be trusted."
Wilfred had wrecked his brain over the week thinking of ways they could do this with just them two but it became impossible the more he thought about it. He knew they didn't have much of a choice if they wanted success.
Silva was someone rich and was very well known, securing a private train would be child's play for him and if he could fight, the more the merrier, except Wilfred had his own saying, the more the messier.
It was much harder getting more people to move as one and if they hoped to rescue every soul in that mine, they would need to do just that. They were strangers, so it would take a long time for them to be in sync.
"Yes sir, we can enlist their help. I don't see how just the two of us can hope to achieve this, I will put my pride aside for the sake of those people, they need us to work together."
Sekani could tell that his trust for the rich and people in high places was nonexistent. And it wasn't unwarranted, with the way their country was run, everyone at the bottom at every right to distrust them.
"I'll make the call, when do you think we should head over there?" Sekani took out his phone and looked for Jesús Silva's name.
"We can head over there in three days time. I don't want those people to suffer more than they already have."
Sekani nodded to his statement, he was now calling Isla's father who picked up so quickly as though he was expecting the call.
"Mr. Silva, how are you doing today?"Nôv(el)B\\jnn
"I told you, you can call me Jesús."
"Alright, Jesús." This was very awkward, he didn't know how to go about explaining to him what they needed.
"Is there anything I can help you with Sekani?"
"I'd like to invite you and dean Whitmore to dinner, tonight, is that alright with you?"
Jesús was taken aback, he hadn't expected something like this coming from the man. And why Dean Whitmore? If he was any clever he could've pieced it together but he figured maybe it was about school and their children.
"I'll be available, I'll ensure the dean is available is well."
"Thank you, see you at six." He hung up. Continue your journey with empire
"That was dreadful."
"Very smart sir, not to say anything over the phone in case they're wired. Then shall we prepare for dinner?"
Both men were very capable of cooking, they didn't want to bother Vada and Angelina by springing something like this on them last minute, it was already around four o'clock, they only had two hours to prepare.
Sekani's hand was on the doorknob when there was a sudden knock on the door. Neither of them heard the approaching footsteps, most likely because they were talking inside.
When the door flung open, both Sekani and Wilfred had confused expressions seeing Nikolai Black on the other end.
