Chapter 322 Ch 325: Treasures
Upon opening the chest, Rein and his group found it full of many items. There were the items that was mentioned in the book but other than those, there were quite a few other items that Rein and his group were unfamiliar with.
There was also a note inside the chest. After reading it, Rein found it that the person who had hidden this chest here was also aware of the fact that there was a possibility that someone might stumble across this hidden chest by complete coincidence. So to get rid of their confusion, the owner of the chest had also written the same thing that was written in the book here but in a brief manner.
Rein was expecting that the note would have something written about the other items present in the chest so he was extremely disappointed as that was not the case. So all of them started to go through all the items one by one and appraised all of them.
This task would have taken quite some time without Rein's Eye of Truth and Truth affinity. But as Rein used both of those with his full force, the appraisal of all the items ended quite quickly. Most of the items here were not too valuable but quite a few of them could be categorised as antiques and would be quite valuable.
After going through all the unknown treasures finally Rein checked out the treasures that he was familiar with. Among those the diary was definitely most valuable and Luna immediately took that into her custody. Seeing the excited Luna, Lopas and Rein smiled and picked up the two remaining items.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
Rein started to check out the token that was supposed be beside the diary and Lopas started to check out the colourful shiny gem. The token was made using an alloy metal called Xenocite. This metal was quite valuable a few centuries ago as a good conductor of mana.
But in recent times a new alloy called Himetom was invented which was a better conductor of mana and at the same time was more cost effective than Xenocite. So currently this metal had became extremely rare for daily use.
The token had the symbol of a crow pierced by a sword. This was definitely not the symbol of the Order of Ramna and instead looked like something that was opposing them. Rein was unable to understand why a high ranking member of the order like Jakery had something like this. But Rein hoped the diary would have some information that could get rid of his curiosity.
Then Rein channeled a little bit of his magic through the token. He did felt some resistance showing that the token had remained unused for a long amount of time. But the core function of the token was still intact and Rein was able to activate it after giving a little effort.
Immediately a light screen appeared before him and on it some information was written. After going through all the information Rein found out that what was written on it was actually the identity information of Jakery with which he was working in this organisation.
As this information was not really very helpful, Rein next focused on the gem that Lopas was holding. Lopas was already done checking it when Rein was busy reading the information on the token. So after seeing that Rein was looking at the gem in her hand, Lopas immediately handed it to him and she took the token from Rein. So they exchanged items.
After getting his hands on the gem, Rein happily checked it out with his eye of truth. The gem turned out to be way less mysterious than the diary or the token. It was a just a powerful rank 5 magic casting medium.
A rank 5 medium was definitely rare but it was not something that a rank 5 mage could not buy with their wealth. So even if it was a very valuable item for a regular rank 4 mage, this was nothing in the eyes of the wealthy noble families and rank 5 mages.
So after slightly checking the magic casting item out, Rein left it be. Lopas was also done with checking the token and just like Rein she was also unable to discover anything significant from the symbol or the identity information inscribed inside.
Then both of them looked at Luna together. But after just one look it was clear that she was nowhere near done with the diary. Just from a slight look, Rein had judged that this diary was actually a magical item so the numbers of pages in the diary was much more than what it looked from outside.
Luna was also reading the diary very carefully so she was intentionally taking longer time then needed to make sure she was not missing any details. From all this it was clear that Luna was going to take a long time with the diary.
So Rein and Lopas decided that they should just make a camp here to allow Luna to concentrate on her work. They were hoping that she would be done in a day or two. If she needed more time than that then Rein would have to forcefully stop her from concentration on this as they needed to focus on the remaining missions too.
...
Fortunately Rein and Lopas did not need to force Luna as the diary was not large enough to need multiple days. So in just one day, Luna was done with reading the whole diary. While she was concentrating hard on it, she had lost her sense about the outside world. She had also forgotten about her exhaustion.
So as soon as she came back to her senses, all the accumulated exhaustion hit her all together. This was something Rein and Lopas had expected as something similar had happened before.
So as soon as Rein and Lopas noticed that Luna had woken up from her concentrated state, they immediately started to attend to her. Rein gave Luna some water and started to massage her whole body. On the other hand, Lopas brought some food to her that she has already prepared beforehand.
After some attentive care from both Rein and Lopas, Luna was feeling much better. Only then all three of them started another meeting to discuss what Luna had found after going through the whole diary.
So what secrets were hidden in the diary ?
