Sky-cracking Rider

Chapter 210 Section 210 - Who is the Hero

At an altitude of thirty thousand feet, the "Viking" Crystal Jet pointed its nose directly toward the ground, its body ablaze with light.

Immense energy waves radiated from the Crystal Jet, floodlight converging from all directions. Along the wings and body, a constant stream of light flowed toward the nose, where a large, slowly rotating Magic Array was suspended. The sharp nose fired a continuous golden beam, constructing a complex spell structure.

The clouds in the night sky were instantly scattered.

With one strike, the heavens changed!

With the second, ghosts and deities were startled!

With the third, the sky and earth were lacking!

The full-power single-target attack of the Crystal Jet was so mighty that even unguarded Magic Cube Warships and Sky Patrol Ships couldn't withstand it.

Carrying the little one, Chen Fei looked back.

It was over, 8BQ!

Old David truly had a mouthful of old blood to spit out this time.

As if a golden torrent pierced through heaven and earth, it persisted for a moment before finally disappearing.

What vanished along with it was the Super-sized Qian Chuanzi, leaving only a lava hell with a diameter of over a hundred meters on the ground.

The full-strength strike of the Crystal Jet was terrifyingly powerful!

Such supreme military might, a representation of sovereign dignity, could perhaps only be matched by the Forbidden Curses of the Silan Dynasty of the Cangqiong Realm.

"Report, 'Viking' has executed the 'Holy Light Judgment'. Target successfully eliminated!"

"Starbreaker' confirms the victory, target successfully eliminated!"

"Return to base!"

"Yes, Commander!" ×2!

The conversation between two Sky Knights and an unnamed commander resonated within the public communication channel.Nôv(el)B\\jnn

In the high skies, the two Crystal Jets that had just released their brilliant light retracted all their glow, emitting a faint blue light at the tail and then zooming away at high speed with a roar.

"Jiu?!"

Lying on Chen Fei's chest, Little Bird gazed up with wide, innocent eyes, looking utterly adorable and a tad bewildered, finding itself nestled in Daddy Chen's embrace.

One must not be fooled by it!

Just moments before, this little one was anything but adorable, recklessly charging at the big beast.

It's only natural for the early bird to get the worm, but for a worm so big, couldn't you first take a look?

"The fight's over, let's find a place to land!"

Instructor Ramaya's voice came through, after a bitter struggle setting up the Magic Array in the Snail Nest, he was utterly exhausted.

Before this, he never imagined he would one day be firing machine guns in combat, especially at targets protected by an invisible, intangible shield. Trying to master the machine gun was not easy at all.

"The airfield's been destroyed!"

Chen Fei had just looked down at the ground.

The Eagle King's Eagle Nest was utterly leveled to the ground, and even the main runway, which seemed to have mostly survived, was not entirely spared. Nearly a third was destroyed, and the remaining two-thirds was patchy and littered with debris. It was truly unusable, a precarious choice for the two jets to land safely.

Knowing the terrain around the airfield and the side entrance inside out, Instructor Ramaya immediately said, "We'll make an emergency landing on the highway, follow me!"

"Roger that!"

Fighting the howling wind that blew into the cockpit, Chen Fei controlled the F-22 "Raptor" fighter jet, closely following the tail flames of the T-7C "Red Hawk" trainer jet.

"Jiu!"

Little Bird seemed tired, chirping softly and snuggling into Chen Fei's chest.

A pale light shield enveloped the entire cockpit, keeping the chaotic, high-speed airstream outside.

It was as if a new canopy had been placed over the cockpit, significantly improving the harsh environment inside.

"An 800-meter stretch of highway is clear!"

Airport security had temporarily closed off the highway segment near the small town. Everyone was mobilized, using all sorts of lights—mobile phones, flashlights, car headlights—to illuminate as much of the road as they could, preparing to welcome the two heroes descending from the sky.

To cover everyone's safe evacuation, they had resolutely turned back to engage in a deadly struggle with the Giant Mutant that had suddenly appeared near the airfield. It required more than just courage—it demanded proficient tactical coordination.

So far, the partnership between Chen Fei and the Federation's former ace pilot, Instructor Ramaya, had been quite harmonious.

This was thanks to the former's participation in actual combat, preventing him from being flustered and disoriented.

"You only get one shot, listen carefully to my maneuver," Instructor Ramaya instructed as his trainer jet lined up with the brightly lit highway.

The two-way four-lane asphalt road was just passable for a jet to make an emergency landing, but the risk was not small. One misstep and they could plunge off the roadbed into the piles of rocks and shrubs on the roadside.

This was not a legitimate airport runway, with lush grass and soft mud on the sides that could effectively impede the wheels of the landing gear.

"I understand!"

Chen Fei had basically memorized the landing procedure, but he lacked some experience and precautions for night emergency landings on highways.

These minor details often played a decisive role in a successful, safe landing, and Instructor Ramaya's hands-on teaching was exceedingly beneficial.

In formal training classes, one could never learn such techniques.

The T-7C "Red Hawk" advanced trainer aircraft, with its landing gear down, charged straight down the highway, all the lights illuminating the way ahead.

"It's your turn now! Don't panic, stay steady!"

The advanced trainer aircraft slowly decelerated and successfully landed.

Cheers erupted from men, women, and children on the ground.

When the F-22 "Raptor" jet fighter aligned its nose with the highway and began its landing preparations, there was dead silence on the ground, not even a flicker from the handheld lights.

Everyone watched the landing gear lights and involuntarily held their breath collectively.

This was, after all, an old veteran aircraft retired more than thirty years ago, only recently repaired. Whether it could successfully complete a highway landing probably still depended somewhat on luck.

Boom!~~~

The more than twenty-ton aircraft, carrying a relentless howling wind, sped down the highway, sliding more than seven hundred meters. It finally stopped just short of the end of the cleared section, having maintained a powerful charge all the way.

"Chen Fei, there's something I need to discuss with you..."

Old David's voice suddenly appeared on the comms channel.

Just as the F-22 "Raptor" jet fighter came to a halt, Chen Fei with Little Bird flipped out of the cockpit surrounded by people that swarmed towards them, but were kept at bay by airport security, a good several dozen meters away.

"Hurry up, take me in!"

Old David, leaning on his crutches, hobbled over to the "Raptor," gasping for breath.

"Old David, don't move!"

Chen Fei raised a hand and firmly lifted the old man into the cockpit.

"Helmet, helmet!"

Old David beckoned Chen Fei energetically.

"Speaking of which, is this really okay?"

Chen Fei hurriedly passed over his own aviation tactical helmet.

"Hmph! 'Eagle King' David Sid's only got trouble with his legs and feet, it's not that I can't fly a plane."

Hastily putting on the helmet and connecting the data cable, Old David tossed out his crutches, which Chen Fei caught in a hurry.

Sitting in the cockpit of the F-22 "Raptor," there was truly no need for feet, so having trouble with his legs really didn't affect flying this old companion.

Chen Fei was at a loss for words.

"BOSS, we can't hold them back much longer!"

The security guards sounded their distress in the comms channel.

Damn it, it was one thing for the townspeople to crowd around for a closer look, but what the heck were these trainees from the airport and cowboys from the ranch jostling for? They were all in-house anyway! Experience new stories with empire

Their limited security personnel simply couldn't withstand the onslaught of so many people.

BOSS, we need a raise!

Old David said calmly, "Let them come!"

A raise? No way!

He caressed the all-too-familiar cockpit, musing that the old companion he'd personally given away was, in the end, the only one left; the randomness of destiny turned out to be quite fateful.

From afar, the din of people sounded like floodgates opening, with the deluge pouring out in all directions.

My my!

Chen Fei, holding Xiao Jiu, quickly made his escape.

Since Old David was willing to take the heat for him, making a public display, it was only right for Chen Fei to quit while he was ahead, leave on a victorious note.

Of course, the old man wasn't trying to steal Chen Fei's thunder.

Being a foreigner and drawing this much attention wasn't necessarily a good thing.

Supernatural power users, giant mutants, magical beasts, battles—these elements combined could make Chen Fei the center of universal attention, or in other words, a target for everyone.

Who do you think you are, a foreigner, to show off?

What's so great about being a hero? Under the unobstructed 360-degree panoramic lighting, every single hair could be analyzed in excruciating detail; no one could withstand such intense scrutiny, any dark history would be magnified a thousandfold.

If some short-sighted, foolish person wanted to step on the head of a heroic figure to rise to the top and gain fame, stealthily taking a shot in the dark would make it impossible to guard against.

And what about the American Federation, this sovereign powerhouse?

The face of the former world hegemon was slapped silly, and even though they feigned magnanimity on the surface and had their official documents in order, the unpleasant surprises they might have in store were probably well-prepared in the background.

There was no shortage of instances where relations broke down at the drop of a hat; how naive must one be to believe in the empty words about sovereignty?

Without mentioning anything else, finding any excuse to detain Chen Fei's Little Bird would lead to a filthy lawsuit that could drag on for a century—it would be trivial.

An excuse? The American Federation had Hollywood at its disposal; how could they lack for excuses?
