Chapter 270: Markings
The experience points bar from his status screen continuously rose, satisfying Xu Feng greatly.
How long had it been since he last witnessed a large increase in experience points?
Although it wasn't really that long, just the pain of knowing that you got a 99% debuff in experience points hurts deeply.
Some minutes later, the Abyssal Phantom effectively wiped out all the remaining Gargantuan Beetles, prompting a 10% increase in experience points in the bar.
"Sure enough, it's already getting harder to level up." Xu Feng jumped down from the tree branch and began collecting the loots that were dropped by the beetles.
None of them were rare drops, but they were still somewhat useful. As for the completely useless ones, Xu Feng didn't even bother to pick them up.
After all, the system would automatically "clean" them up after a certain time limit.
By cleaning, it simply meant they would just glitch a while before disappearing from the scene.
Thus, Xu Feng continued on with his journey, as well as making a mark on this location for being a potential habitat for the Beetles.
Sometime later, numerous monsters continuously emerge from out of nowhere.
From small to big monsters, each one of them was quite cunning. However, under the surveillance of the Abyssal Phantom, they were all promptly taken care of.
At the same time, Xu Feng's map began to look cramped, having been forced to zoom in to mark them more precisely. When the map was zoomed out, it was merely a bunch of marks overlapping each other.
Naturally, Xu Feng wasn't randomly marking, but the potentiality of the location of the dimension being located.
A separate dimension was usually the core and the centric position of where these monsters could possibly come from. And to pinpoint the location, these monsters' appearance would give him the answer.
Just like that, Xu Feng spent numerous hours marking the map and gaining tons of experience points in the process.
His level had increased by 1, becoming level 12.
After allocating his free attribute points, Xu Feng took a seat, with the Abyssal Phantom hovering around in the sky like some protective drone.
As Xu Feng analyzed his map, he noted the various markings he had made throughout his expedition.
Multiple symbols and notations converged towards a specific area, indicating a focal point of interest.
The map depicted a series of scattered markers, each representing encounters with different monsters.
These markers were interconnected by lines and arrows, illustrating the paths Xu Feng had taken and the patterns he had observed. The concentration of these markers created a distinct cluster, pinpointing a central region that seemed to draw the monsters to it.
'Hmm, how confusing.' Xu Feng's finger zoomed out the holographic map, finding the supposed central region location to be abnormal.
He recalled reading the data of the location, and it had been explored thoroughly by the adventures and mercenaries. Even some Tier 4 warriors and mages had gone there to double-check, only to end up with the same conclusion as the rest.
There was nothing but an empty cave.
"As expected, one can never rely on the data found by others." Xu Feng marked the location as the designation for a navigation guide and stood up.
This was a method often used by explorers, by having a specific coordinate as a navigation guide to prevent them from deviating from the path.
Of course, this was only possible for those who could use the map function.
After all, some locations restricted the usage of maps, such as the Eerie Fog at the Verdant Valley.
Just when Xu Feng was ready to head toward the empty cave, he received a message.
"Eh, didn't I set it to only friends?" Surprised, Xu Feng opened his messages and realized it was Carmen, or Lunar Wraith to be precise, who had messaged him.
Lunar Wraith: Feng, I just reached level 15 after successfully completing my mission with the librarian and was about to head to a city. But then a guard secretly gave me some token and said it's from you.
'She's level 15 already?' Startled, Xu Feng wondered if she was the real protagonist. Her luck was just out of this world.
Suddenly, Xu Feng had a wicked idea.
Since her luck was out of this way, then maybe… just maybe the empty cave might become the key to his discovery.
Without hesitation, Xu Feng quickly sent her a message, instructing her to use the token to come to Star Falls City and he shall wait for her at the Vanguard Hotel.
Once the message was sent, Xu Feng was no longer idle at the Frontier Fields and opted to teleport back to the Vanguard Hotel.
…
Riverwood Town
Carmen, who was preparing to log out after sending a message to Xu Feng, was dumbfounded on the spot.
'Feng wants me to meet him now?' Confused, Carmen didn't know if she should refuse him.
However, when she recalled how he had assisted her in the previous mission, she would be rude to reject his request.
Not to mention, she merely wanted to log out simply because she didn't want to game too much and get addicted to the Divine World.
After all, she was an employee working for a somewhat big marketing company. Although she worked remotely and completed her assigned tasks, she received an email that wanted her to head to the main office.
Looking at the time right now, Carmen knew she still had a little bit over ten hours left. She rested her hand softly on her chin before deciding to break her routine this time.
Once that was decided, Carmen went to the Teleportation Platform and searched for the guard.
Upon being spotted by the guard, he was startled. "Miss Lunar Wraith, why have you returned? Is there something wrong?"
Just earlier, he had given her the token requested by Xu Feng after confirming her identity. He even went as far as asking if she wished to teleport right away, only for her to reject it. Hence, he was startled to see her return so soon.
An awkward expression appeared on Carmen's face, seemingly embarrassed.
"Yeah… about that, may I be teleported now. I have a change of heart."
