Chapter 2099: Ishims

It took some time but the Celestials were finally counterattacking and they were indiscriminate in their attacks. Instead of just targeting the Rifle Mages, they had sent energy powered attacks against their so called allies.

Jin believed that they were doing this similar to what Ress had been doing. They do not want the information to be dispersed to the rest of the kingdoms, and letting Ress take the fall if they are not able to defeat them even with the army that they had.

After all, the Mong Kingdom's Royals believed that their army would have surpassed every single soldier on that particular battlefield and with safety margins added into the calculation.

However, they had never expected their Rifle Mages to be formidable enough to deal serious damage to their forces and the remaining grotesque looking angels were pushing out all kinds of power attacks in order to make sure there were no witnesses.

Unfortunately, that method did not work when the artilleries had been adjusted and the bombardments became a threat to their survival. Enchanted with a variety of buffs by the mages manning the machines, the artillery shells that had been pelted on the monstrous angels were of a dangerous magnitude the angels had never expected.

Even if they tried to eliminate such threats from this plane of existence, the Rifle Mages were blocking their way and the Commando Mages were moving danger close despite the heavy bombardment. They not only stopped the Angels' movement but also blocked various attacks that could potentially destroy their current formation.

To the bystanders, most were desperately trying to save their comrades now that Ress had concentrated all their firepower against Mong's Angels. Then they saw metal carriages of unknown proportions coming out of the bamboo forests and started to shoot against the Angels too.

From the top and flanks, the Angels were receiving so much love that their frontlines had finally fallen and they had to go into the defensive. That was when a few Angel Officers started to show their faces and every Ress Military Leader could see that they were possibly the bosses of this fight.

Compared to the grotesque appearances of their rank and file, the officers had humanoid features and Jin felt that they might actually be named Celestials. With a swipe of their hand, they were able to deflect the current wave of bombardments.

Once more, the Rifle Mages gave their best explosive shots and it had been deflected towards the ground where the remaining armies were reeling from the damage from earlier on. It was then most if not all of the Rifle Mages held their fire for a moment. Thinking that they had the upper hand in the battle, the humanoid celestial officers smiled so sinisterly that they decided to speak up.

"We are Ishims. The Tenth Tier of the Celestials. Bow to us now and you will have a quick death as retribution for that is your sin of killing our fellow Celestials." One of the humanoid looking Celestial officers said and announced that his name was Dan The Third. The other three officers who were right behind him also called out their names but no one on Ress's side was listening.

Instead, every single rifle barrel had been aimed at those three and even without any communication, all of them had the very same idea.

Load a high grade penetrative bullet into their rifle chambers.

Before another word was able to escape Dan the Third's mouth, everyone's trigger had been pressed almost simultanouesly as if there was a hive mind command that had been passed through the crowds of Rifle Mages.

The Ishims assumed that they were going to throw out the very same spell out and they had already readied their reflect barriers the moment those bullets came in close proximity. Sadly, the barriers never came to fruition as the proud Ishims saw their magical shields sparkled right in front of them.

"Eh?" That was the only word that Dan The Third was able to let out when he felt that he lost his balance. It was when that was happening did he saw something unexplainable. There was blood coming out from his fellow Ishims. And those blood came from the tens of holes that had pierced through their entire bodies.

Dan The Third tried to look at his body too but he felt that his eyes were too heavy and his neck was not able to move. In the next second, his could feel his heart stop and his mind blacked out. There was nothing that could be done as the surviving Celestials and soldiers from other armies saw the ferocity and synchronicity of Ress Mages.

Any Generals who saw that could clearly understood that this army was trained and extremely experienced.

Something that they could not wrap their minds especially when they knew that Ress Military were a bunch of ex mercenaries or adventurers who could not find any other job. The only reputable army that Ress might had was the Royal Army. But from the looks of it, this was their regular working army that had performed this deed.

At that moment, just when they thought it was already an overkill, three Commando Mages dashed through the battlefield and used their rifles' bayonets to perform a slicing slash through the Ishims heads while subsequently readjusted their aims and shot a huge burst energy through the clumped up angels before moving away with the heads of the Ishims in their hands.

At that point, one of the archers from Nalg slowly pulled his bowstrings and aimed at the Celestials. It was at that moment the turning point of this battle. Once that arrow flung towards the Angels, it was akin to a declaration of the remaining humans on the battlefield.

The Generals were stunned when they saw the scene of their soldiers started to pick up their weapons and wield their magic against the angels even though that act of defiance could not dent that thick unwieldy skin it had.

However, this brought hope to Jin that some on the battlefield could see or sense who was the real actual threat.
