Natural Disaster: I Started By Hoarding Tens Of Billions Of Supplies

Chapter 299: I Know Them

Chapter 299: I Know Them

Xu Ruihan listened intently to his second uncle's words while resting his chin on his hand and thought, 'My first impression of Miss Yao was correct. She is indeed an interesting young lady. I should find a way to meet her and her boyfriend. Perhaps, I can make new friends and find more supporters.'

While the Xu family shared their experiences since the end of the world began, the Mu and Hua families started building their own influence within the Juncheng Military Base. Everyone was busy, and time passed in the blink of an eye.

Ten days had passed before everything was finally settled. By then, the temperature had dropped further to 32 degrees Celsius. Nearly a year after natural disasters destroyed most parts of the world, survivors are finally experiencing normal temperatures.

Yao Ran and her friends no longer wore heat-resistant clothing but still kept constant- temperature clothing beneath their summer outfits.

Waking up early today, Yao Ran felt refreshed. After taking a bath and filling the water tanks in the water storage room, she checked the crops and medicinal herbs in the hydroponic room and greenhouses.

The elders on her team carefully tended the greenhouse crops, while Huang Zhihui and Deng Qiqi managed the hydroponic plants. With their help, Yao Ran only needed to use her wood- element energy every day to ensure the plants grew healthily.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om

In addition to wood element energy, Yao Ran also secretly added a few drops of lake water to the water tanks containing water used to water crops in the greenhouses and hydroponic

rooms.

As a result, all plants grow faster and larger, taste better, have higher mineral and vitamin content, and have mild healing properties. Eating such food every day, Yao Ran is sure that no one in the team will mutate into deformed mutants in the future.

After finishing her morning routines, Yao Ran went to the dining room, where she saw Mother Sima placing food on the food counter.

Seeing her, Mother Sima smiled warmly, "Good morning, Miss Yao. Would you like something to eat?"

Yao Ran nodded, "Good morning, Aunty Sima."

As she still needs to return to help Mother Han in the kitchen, Mother Sima added, "We are still making more dishes and boiling the soymilk. I will bring them out once they are ready."

Yao Ran smiled, "No rush. I can eat these for now."

"Alright."

After scooping herself a bowl of minced meat porridge and taking two meat buns, Yao Ran sat down to eat. Just as she was about to take a bite of the soft and fragrant meat buns, the

shelter's alarm suddenly sounded.

Wung- Wung- Wung-

Yao Ran's expression darkened as the alarm echoed throughout the shelter. She put the meat buns back on the plate and hurried to the central control room.

When she arrived, Long Yu and Shi Xuan were already there. She walked up to them and asked, "Why did the alarm suddenly go off?"

Long Yu pointed at the large main screen, which displayed the scenery outside the shelter, and said, "Look at that."

Yao Ran turned to the screen and saw a large group of people standing outside the main entrance. One of them was knocking on the door and trying to open it.

Shi Xuan zoomed in on the camera and said, "Captain, these people seem to be survivors, not gang members."

Long Yu observed the thin, dirty people in tattered clothes for a moment and said, "Make them leave."

"Yes, Captain." Shi Xuan pressed a button on the control panel and spoke through the microphone, "You are not welcome here. Leave before we shoot."

After speaking, Shi Xuan released the button and asked, "Captain, will they leave?"

"I don't know. Even if they don't seem hostile now, we can't let down our guard." Long Yu replied calmly.

The people outside were stunned when they heard Shi Xuan's words and fell silent. Moments later, the man who had been knocking on the door looked around but couldn't locate the surveillance cameras.

Realizing they were still being watched, he looked up and pleaded, "We came from Haicheng City and were chased by mutant animals. Please, just let us rest here for one night, and we will leave at dawn."

Just as Shi Xuan was about to reject the request, Yao Ran suddenly said, "Wait."

Turning to his girlfriend, Long Yu asked, "Ran Ran, what's wrong?"

Yao Ran didn't answer his question but said to Shi Xuan, "Zoom in on the back of the group."

Shi Xuan glanced at Long Yu, who nodded in agreement. He then adjusted the camera to focus on the back of the group.

"Stop." Yao Ran said a few seconds later.

As the screen displayed two familiar faces, Yao Ran's eyes lit up. Noticing the change in her expression, Long Yu hesitated for a few seconds before he asked cautiously, "Ran Ran, do you know those two men?"

Yao Ran nodded, her gaze fixed on the screen. "Yes. I know them."

Hearing this, Long Yu frowned slightly and studied the screen again. He tried to recall if he had seen these two men with Yao Ran in their past life but was sure they weren't around her when he first met her.

After a moment of silence, Yao Ran looked at Long Yu and said, "A Yu, they are my grandpa's exclusive assistant and my family's chief lawyer. I want to talk to them."

Long Yu was slightly surprised to learn their identities. He nodded and asked, "Do you want me to bring them inside?"

Although Yao Ran trusted Assistant He and Lawyer Li, she had no idea what might have happened to them since they were separated. People could change, and she couldn't risk her friends' safety solely based on past trust.

After she thought for a moment, Yao Ran replied, "No. I will speak with them through the surveillance camera, and we can observe them first."

Long Yu nodded, "Alright. Let's do as you said."
