Chapter 607: Chapter 607: Stop at a Pharmacy
Fu Yi raised his hand and patted her shoulder firmly, “Siyuan, no matter how much you liked him before, it can’t change the fact that Shengxiao now has a girlfriend. You need to learn to accept it, instead of resisting blindly. I hope you can see the bigger picture so we can still be friends, and you’ll still be our sister. If you keep being stubborn, I’m afraid one day your prejudice might annoy Shengxiao. When that happens, no one will be able to help you.”
“I think Jiangjing was angry and said those things just now for the same reason.”
Shen Siyuan was full of disbelief.
She couldn’t believe even Fu Yi would tell her to give up, and even between the lines, he seemed to be taking that woman’s side…
Her heart felt as if it had been viciously stabbed with a needle, the intolerable pain made her unable to take in a single word.
She forcibly suppressed the questions bursting in her chest, took a deep breath, clenched her fingernails, and barely managed to show a receptive expression, nodding, “I understand, second brother. I will think about it carefully when I get back.”
Fu Yi didn’t realize she hadn’t taken in a word of what he said. Seeing her relent, he relaxed and said with a light smile, “Alright, don’t think too much. It’s late; I’ll drive you back.”
“Okay.” Shen Siyuan went along with him and diverted the conversation along the way, no longer talking about the night’s events.
…
In the car.
The lights on both sides blinked intermittently as Gu Ming smoothly steered the car towards the direction of Dihor Garden.
The man in the back was constantly holding his phone, occasionally glancing down to open it and sift through previous chat records.
The last dozen messages were all from Rong Yan.
Each message was so vibrant and expressive that one could almost imagine her tone and gestures as she spoke.
The last message stopped at her complaint about the living room air conditioner breaking down.
Li Shengxiao scrolled up through the messages on his phone, going back to the message Rong Yan had sent him asking for a call before he headed back.
He paused for a few seconds, staring fixedly.
Gu Ming drove carefully while sneaking glances at the rearview mirror above. At a red light, he tentatively spoke up, “Mr. Li, would you like to give Miss Rong a call to let her know you’re preparing to head back?”
Without getting a response, he added softly, “I’m worried Miss Rong might still be waiting for you, not knowing when you’ll return. She must be very concerned.”
The key was that after a quarrel, someone had to initiate.
If the president called back, it would mean he was the one reaching out first.
“I also don’t know if Miss Rong has had dinner. She usually waits for you to return so you can eat together. Since you haven’t been back all day, it’s possible Miss Rong hasn’t eaten anything until now.” He deliberately said this while sneaking peeks to the back, “Miss Rong has been tired all day; if she hasn’t had dinner by now, her body surely can’t handle it.”
Li Shengxiao listened to his babble inside the car, and even though he knew Rong Yan had gone out for spicy noodles with the little one, his chest tightened involuntarily with concern about whether she had eaten enough or if she was still waiting for him to come home and have some porridge together.
Damn it!
Realizing that his focus was drifting uncontrollably again, Li Shengxiao’s breath caught and his lips pursed. Suddenly he looked outside the car and said, “Stop at a pharmacy.”
Hmm, a pharmacy?
Gu Ming glanced at the navigation and steered the car to the left.
