Chapter 152: Ego
Chapter 152: Chapter 152: Ego
Under Alex's overwhelming strength, his subordinates had no choice but to begrudgingly advance toward the living planet, Ego.
At this point, Alex's forces numbered over ten thousand, equipped with a formidable fleet of interstellar battleships and combat vessels. Even without Alex personally taking action, this power was enough to destroy the vast majority of factions across the universe.
Wherever his fleet went, they were met with awe and reverence by local forces, including the Kree Empire—an entity that had dominated the cosmos for countless ages.
For the Ravagers, this was an entirely new experience, and they began to feel that serving Alex might not be such a bad deal after all.
Even Alex's lowest-ranking followers were treated with immense respect and fear by outsiders.
Because continuous warp jumps over 50 times could harm mammals and cause ships to slip into unknown, unstable spaces, Alex decided to slow down the pace for his crew's well-being.
After every 50 jumps, they rested. To reach Ego's location from their starting point in the wastelands, they would need at least 700 jumps.
During these intervals, Alex continued enhancing the Guardians of the Galaxy members and his new underlings, Yondu and Kraglin.
He replaced Groot's original vines with those from the Divine Tree in the Naruto world, granting his tendrils the ability to absorb energy and unleash powerful techniques.
Additionally, Alex's Reverse Curse Technique pushed Groot to the final evolutionary stage of his species, transforming him into a towering Flora God Colossi over ten meters tall.
For Gamora, Alex granted her the powers of the Tremor-Tremor Fruit (Gura Gura no Mi) from One Piece, while also reinforcing her physical capabilities.
One could only imagine the look on Thanos's face when he encountered Gamora again—a warrior capable of shattering space with a punch and possessing an indestructible body.
As for Yondu and Kraglin, Alex gifted them the powers of the Ice-Ice Fruit and the Glint-Glint Fruit, respectively, along with enhanced physiques.
By this point, if they entered the One Piece world, they would undoubtedly rival Marine Admirals in power.
Now, Alex only needed someone with the powers of the Magma-Magma Fruit to complete his trio of "Admirals."
With this in mind, Alex turned his attention to Groot. Using Groot's branches, he nurtured a small Groot and infused it with the Magma-Magma Fruit.
This new Groot became an anomaly within his species—immune to fire and capable of transforming into molten magma.
Once all enhancements were complete and everyone had mastered their newfound powers, the fleet finally reached Ego's location.
From his ship, Alex observed the massive planet in the distance—a celestial body several times larger than Earth, brimming with immense energy.
However, this energy appeared to be dormant, with only a fraction currently active. Perhaps this explained why, in the movie, Ego's power seemed to grow stronger as the story progressed.
Ego's awakening took time, and before he fully revived, a tiny Groot detonated a bomb at his core, ending his existence.
It was, without a doubt, a death unbefitting a Celestial—a true disgrace.
Alex, however, didn't destroy the living planet immediately. He needed Star-Lord to connect with the planet and fully awaken the Celestial gene within him. This way, even after Ego's death, Star-Lord wouldn't revert to being a powerless mortal.
Furthermore, as someone who enjoyed a good laugh, Alex wasn't about to miss Ego's twisted expression as he fell from the heights of arrogance into utter despair.
Moments later, a small ship detached from the main battleship and landed on Ego's surface.
The small crew aboard included Alex, the Guardians of the Galaxy, and Yondu.
As the ship landed, Alex sensed a distinct energy fluctuation emanating from Ego's core. The living planet had clearly detected their arrival.
Sure enough, after about ten minutes, an oval-shaped, beige ship descended from the sky. The hatch opened, and two figures stepped out.
One of the figures was a middle-aged man around fifty years old—the Celestial, Ego.
The other was a young woman with soft features, standing about 1.7 meters tall. What stood out were the two antennae on her forehead that swayed with every movement—she was none other than Mantis.
Through Alex's energy vision, he saw that Ego's body was entirely composed of energy mimicking flesh, not a true biological form.
As for Mantis, her body emanated a power of psychic nature, perfectly aligned with her mind-altering abilities.
The dynamic between the two was evident: Mantis was clearly subordinate to Ego, her demeanor brimming with fear toward him.
Ego stepped off the ship, wearing a smile that seemed genuinely joyous. Fixing his gaze on Star-Lord, he looked as though he were marveling at a priceless treasure.
"After all these years, I've finally found you, my child—Peter!"
It had to be said that the body Ego projected was extremely convincing. If Star-Lord and the others hadn't already been told about his true nature, they might have genuinely believed he was a loving father.
However, thanks to Alex and Yondu's warnings, Star-Lord and his companions were fully aware of Ego's deceitful nature and would not be swayed.
After a moment, Ego's attention shifted from Star-Lord to Yondu.
"Yondu, I trusted you so much in the past. Why did you betray me and separate me from Peter for decades?"
As planned, Yondu responded with the prepared script:
"Sorry, Ego. From the moment I laid eyes on Peter, I took a liking to him and wanted to keep him for myself.
But in the end, I'm not his father. He has the right to find his true family, so I'm returning him to you now..."
Ego didn't believe Yondu for a second but feigned acceptance, pretending to forgive him. "It's alright, my friend. What matters is that Peter is here with me now, and that makes me happy."
Ego's real goal, of course, was to use Star-Lord as a battery to amplify his power. By doing so, the seeds he planted on countless inhabited planets would sprout, allowing him to absorb their energy and become even more powerful.
Once that was accomplished, Ego planned to deal with Yondu and settle old scores.
Ego led Alex and the others to an opulent palace, where he presented his vision to Star-Lord:
"Peter, my dearest son, when I'm gone, all of this will be yours."
In the original storyline, the impoverished Star-Lord was quickly captivated by the wealth before him and began to see his father in a slightly more favorable light.
However, with Alex's influence, Star-Lord's perspective had broadened significantly. He now understood that in this universe, power was the only thing that truly mattered.
And let's not forget the jealousy he felt when he saw Rocket Raccoon and the others gain incredible abilities!
Within the palace, Ego recounted his origins—his solitude, the creation of his living planet, and the construction of the humanoid form before them.
Suddenly, Drax interrupted him with an unexpected question:
"Did you make a penis for yourself?"
Star-Lord immediately intervened:
"What the hell is wrong with you?!"
Drax explained:
"If he's a planet, how did he have a child with your mother? He'd crush her flat!"
Seeing the awkward tension escalate, Ego stepped in to defuse the situation: "Yes, Drax, I do have... ahem... and it's quite adequate!"
Feeling validated, Drax laughed heartily, forgetting that Ego was the villain of the story. "Ha! I knew it!"
Shortly afterward, Ego led Star-Lord away, sharing stories of his past, his dreams, and teaching him how to harness the planet's power.
Meanwhile, Alex and the others separated from Star-Lord and used flying devices to explore Ego's planet.
One couldn't deny that Ego had a refined sense of aesthetics. Having traveled to countless inhabited planets, he had witnessed unique natural wonders and seamlessly integrated them into his creation, resulting in the breathtaking beauty of Ego's world.
Unfortunately, this planet was destined for destruction soon...
The next day, as Alex sat on a cliff overlooking a majestic waterfall, he sensed a violent energy surge in the distance. A faint smile curled his lips.
"It seems things are about to get started."
---
Inside the palace, Star-Lord finally heard Ego admit he had planted the tumor that killed his mother. Enraged beyond reason, Star-Lord pulled out his dual blasters and began shooting at Ego.
However, Ego's body was pure energy mimicking flesh. Even if this physical form was destroyed, his energy would simply reconstruct it.
Under attack, Ego glared at Star-Lord in fury. "Who do you think you are to strike at me?"
Star-Lord, undeterred, shouted even louder: "You killed my mother!"
Ego, unimpressed by Star-Lord's anger, dismissed it as the tantrum of a weakling. "I worked so hard to create the perfect form for you, and this is how you repay me?" He sneered as his appearance shifted—from elderly to youthful and back again. "You've grown up, Peter."
With a wave of his hand, Ego summoned a thick energy tendril that emerged behind Star-Lord and pierced through his chest.
Ego's face twisted into a cruel grin.
"I wanted us to rule the universe together, but you've disappointed me so much.
Looks like you need a thousand years as a battery to cool off!"
The energy tendril linked to Star-Lord's body, temporarily activating the Celestial gene within him.
Ego's power surged dramatically. The neural extensions he had planted on other planets began rapidly growing, transforming into colossal structures tens of meters tall, consuming everything in their path.
On Earth, Xandar, and countless other planets, these extensions grew uncontrollably. If left unchecked, they would devour entire planets in a short span.
Just as Ego grinned in triumph, believing his plan was finally succeeding, a voice with a faint tone of approval sounded from behind him:
"Not bad. This is a very ambitious plan. If you truly succeed, your power could grow exponentially. You might even become the strongest singular entity in this universe."
"Who's there?!" Ego's energy body trembled uncontrollably at the sudden voice. It shocked him because, according to his perception, no one else should have been behind him.
When he turned around, he saw Alex curiously inspecting the surrounding screens.
Ego remembered this individual—a companion of Peter's. However, this companion seemed far too weak, the most unimpressive of the group.
In his observation, everyone else had a significant level of energy within them—nowhere near threatening to him but strong enough to be considered powerful in the universe.
But the silver-haired man before him? His energy level seemed barely average for the cosmos.
Now, though, it appeared that was not the case.
This man wasn't as weak as he seemed. He must have a method of hiding his true strength.
Still, that didn't matter. Ego thought confidently, In this universe, who besides the Celestials could possibly rival me?
Ego decisively summoned an energy tendril and lashed it at Alex, intending to crush this insignificant pest and continue gathering power to devour other planets.
But to his shock, the energy tendril disintegrated a few meters from Alex, unraveling into chaotic energy before being absorbed by him.
"You... you can forcibly control my energy?!" Ego exclaimed in disbelief.
"Surprised? Shocked?" Alex smirked maliciously. "After millions of years working toward your goal, you suddenly find an insurmountable obstacle standing in your way—me."
With a snap of his fingers, Alex brought the rest of the group into the palace.
"Hmm, your power isn't fully restored yet. Perfect for a training session.
Go, my crew. Defeat this Celestial!"
Rocket Raccoon and the others found themselves suddenly transported to the palace. Hearing Alex's command, they quickly grasped the situation. Peter had likely connected to the planet, meaning they could finally attack Ego directly!
Without hesitation, the power of the Gura Gura no Mi, Goro Goro no Mi, Pika Pika no Mi, Magu Magu no Mi, and Hie Hie no Mi erupted spectacularly.
Rocket and the others transformed into energy-infused beings, launching their attacks at Ego.
Even Drax, facing the Celestial Ego, unleashed his full strength, activating his tattoos and swinging his blade to release powerful flying slashes.
Ego hadn't expected this ragtag group to wield such unique abilities. Caught off guard, he was bombarded by their attacks, and his freshly restored humanoid body crumbled in an instant.
However, to Ego, creating another body was a trivial matter. He regenerated effortlessly, and as time passed, his dormant power rapidly awakened.
More and more colossal energy tendrils erupted from the planet's core, each one more powerful than the last, targeting Rocket and the others.
Meanwhile, Alex casually sat to the side, munching on popcorn and watching the battle unfold as if it were a grand performance.
Of course, he wasn't entirely idle.
Calling Peter over, Alex adopted a serious expression. "Are you ready to stop being human?."
Peter immediately understood what Alex meant, though the phrasing sounded odd.
Still, the allure of immense power overruled his hesitation. With a determined nod, he replied:
"I'm ready. I've realized humanity's strength has its limits. I don't want to stay human anymore!"
Alex nodded approvingly.
"Good kid. Knew you were sharp from the start."
With that, Alex decided to grant Peter his wish.
Alex raised his hand, his fingers curling slightly as he entered his Third Tree: Abyss state.
Finally, unleashing the limitless void, Alex enveloped the entire Ego planet. The energy within was continuously extracted from Ego's form and infused into Peter's body, transforming him into a true Celestial.
