Chapter 365: Chapter 365 – Viking’s Era
[MadLad: Dude. Want to join a game with other streamers today? We need a lot of people. I know you will like this game. Feel free to bring a lot of people if you decide to join.]
Well… His plan today was decided. He replied immediately.
[Breeze: Count me in.]
Right after replying, MadLad sent the game's details. Max read the message as he sat in the taxi to return home.
[MadLad: There is an event held by a streamer called OperationMLF today at 11 AM, the link is here. <AttachedLink>. It's a wide event that invites all streamers into a certain game's server.]
[MadLad: The streamers will be separated into 5 teams in a large arena. Each team is composed of 100 people. Probably, there will only be around 30 streamers joining this event, so the rest will be picked from the viewers who join the server first.]
[MadLad: This game is called Viking's Era. All players will be given a choice between using Axes, Battle Axe, Sword, Sword & Shield, or Arrow. It's a full combat game where players just kill each other and get high points based on kill scores.]
After reading MadLad's explanation, Max hummed and stroked his chin. This game scratched all he needed. He could play with other streamers as well as viewers. Not only that but the chaos that ensued within could even be imagined, knowing its gameplay was similar to Knight's Journey.
No extra game skill and only focused on cold-weapon duels. What a perfect game.
'Viking's Era, huh? Based on the name, I can guess the team will be based on a Viking settlement or something. And most probably, the map will be filled with snow and water. So there will be a naval battle too.'
That sounded exciting.
Arriving at his apartment, he immediately entered and greeted loudly.
"I am home."
No one answered. Max entered and found Lily sitting on the balcony in her onesie, a noise-cancellation headset covering her ears as she was busy composing music. He smiled and made some drinks for her.
Ice tea was a great choice. Both of them loved it.
Opening the sliding glass, Max stepped onto the balcony. Only then did Lily notice him.
"Ah." She raised her head, looking at him in a daze. "I didn't realize you entered."
"It's okay. Ah, here is an iced tea. I bet you're thirsty from concentrating a lot."
"Thank you."
"You're welcome." He replied as he put the drink on the table. "And, Lily. I am about to join some kind of streamer event with MadLad after this. Do you want to join? We will play a game called Viking's Era. The gameplay is similar to Knight's Journey but the mode is different."
"MadLad… That loud guy?" She asked curiously, humming lowly as she glanced at the music composing application that was still open next to her.
Noticing that, Max smiled softly. "You don't need to join if you're busy. There will be a lot of streamers this time and I am not sure that your friend will also join. Just focus on what you want to do."
Hearing that, Lily smiled and nodded, "Un. I think I will stay here. Have fun."
"I will."
After saying that, he returned inside and climbed into his VR Capsule. By the time he arrived home, it was almost 11 AM. And he planned to meet up with MadLad and his friends first.
Once he dived in, he immediately bought and downloaded Viking's Era. Then, he messaged MadLad to ask for the Lobby he had to join, to which the man replied pretty fast.
Max immediately joined the new Lobby as soon as he prepared his livestream. The Lobby was unlike any other. It looked like a cozy room with a warm light.
Secretly, he was thankful it wasn't a bar again.
In the room, MadLad was sitting with two other guys, whom he immediately recognized as Lightning and Tiamat. When he appeared in the room, the attention immediately shifted to him.
"Yo." He casually greeted them with a smile and approached. "How are you guys since that reality show?"
"Haha, we're good." Lightning laughed merrily as he shook Max's hand, "How about you?"
"Fine," Max answered as he proceeded to shake Tiamat's and MadLad's hand. "Thanks for inviting me, by the way. I don't have anything to do today and am bored. Hahaha, your timing is really good, MadLad."
"Tsk, of course." MadLad scoffed and crossed his legs. "Though even if I said that, I was just thinking maybe you would be interested. You always say yes whenever we invite you to do something."
"So I am just a convenient guy?" Max asked, pretending to look hurt as he looked at MadLad.
"What's this, disgusting?" MadLad reacted and backed away, "You know that's not what I mean. In a way, you are similar to that Flexy guy. You always go on board with something interesting and fun."
Max laughed. He didn't deny that he was similar to Flexy in that part, as long as it involved game and streaming. He certainly wouldn't trap his friend just for fun.
"Well, you're not wrong."
Everyone laughed and they talked about various things to pass the time. MadLad, the one who found out about this event, explained how this would go and the rules they had to follow. There was nothing complicated.
"In short, the rules are like this. 1. Don't cheat. 2. Don't stream snipe. 3.
You can't work together with the other team, even if it's your friend."
"Ah, so the team is randomized?" Max asked, seemingly interested in the team's randomization.
"We might not be on the same team even though we came from the same Lobby," Tiamat added. "That's fair."
The conversation continued. They asked Max for advice on how to grow their channel, as he was the one with the biggest followers in the room. He told them what StoneSword told him back in the day, about making interesting content and streaming regularly.
After a while, the time arrived. All of them logged into the Viking's Era and chose the server where the server was held after starting their livestream.
[Livestream Starts!]
Max's vision shifted and he appeared in what seemed like a large arena covered in white. The sky was gray, and snow fell heavily. Many people, dressed in what seemingly Viking attires stood around him.
'Whoa, this is nuts. There are many streamers, and I recognize some of them.' He thought as she looked around. 'Damn, this is really a chance to grow my fanbase. There should be at least 500K viewers combined.'
The event was on a bigger scale than he thought.
— This is…
— Viking's Era?! AXE BREEZE RETURNED?!
— AXE AXE AXE AXE AXE AXE!
— Finally, my blood axe will return to its glory!
— Viking's Era? And this place must be that event guys! He's going to rampage!
— I am joining! Where is that OperationMLF's link?! GIVE ME!
The viewers instantly recognized it even when Max didn't even put the game's title on the screen. Instead, he just put a really clickbaity one.
[My Axe craves blood!]
A simple one, but managed to attract everyone's attention.
