God Ash: Remnants of the fallen.

Chapter 702 Final Boss (2).

Slaying this final beast would represent the culmination of their efforts.

The creature possessed silver scales that possessed a slight shimmer effect as they were exposed to the light Susan summoned.

Its worm-like body didn't have any limbs. However, it did possess two pairs of fins protruding from its sides which looked rather similar to wings.

There was a huge dorsal fin that ran from its head to the end of its tail. When it raised its head and stared at them with boiling malice and bloodlust, Cain could see that it possessed two pairs of serpentine eyes on its face.

It opened its mouth and a sharp, piercing hiss escaped from its maw.

He frowned.

Cain didn't want to admit it, but this creature was beautiful, far mpre beautiful than any other terrifying creature they had encountered in the depths of this place.

Cain felt his heart flutter...

'Truly a magnificent beast indeed.'

Its stats were stupidly high, its skills seemed even more terrifying.

A worth creature fit to live in a pool at the ends of hell.

Despite being a beast, its eyes seemed to shine with malignant intelligence as it stared at them despite the burning malice and hunger within.

It didn't attack them immediately.

Instead, it dragged the rest of its body up.

Enjoy new tales from empire

It was rather long, the length of close to twenty {Blood Skyrays} lines up back to back.

Its silver scales glinted as its long serpentine body coiled upon itself.

Steve smiled grimly, "Well, would you look at that... The beast is giving us a show."

Cain couldn't have agreed more.

Now towering above them, its head almost reaching the roof of the cave, it seemed even more intimidating than before.

It hissed again, the sound piercing through their heads and souls.

It spread its fins, which Cain was now convinced doubled as wings.

Then it lunged forward.

"Get ready!"

Cain yelled.

With a grunt, Floki manifested a giant ice shield before them all. Steve, Zue, Sue, and Vincent jumped to the back of the party, while the melee fighters rushed to the sides.

Seeing this, the beast suddenly raised its head. A ripple of mana spread around it. It began flapping its wings, and its body which was supposed to fall, began rising up until its entore length was swirling in the air.

Although the creature was gib, this cave was even bigger and would easily house twenty to thirty more beasts of the same size.

As such, it had more than enough space to maneuver as it pleased.

And that it did.

Floki frowned, "It has made my shield useless..."

Indeed, this way, it didn't matter what direction Floki was guarding from. Unless he could guard from all directions at once, then it would be useless to even attempt to block at all.

'The blasted thing can now attack from any angle.' Cain thought to himself.

He spoke firmly,

"We'll spread out. Floki, keep your shield up."

Then he turned to Vincent and Steve,

"Provide cover fire. We are going in..."

From what he had seen, this beast didn't have any abilities that made close combat with it impossible.

Li and Stan rushed in from the left while he and Ignis rushed in from the other side.

Lukas on the other hand, walking right at the beast, facing it with nary a hint of fear on his demeanor.

He calmly drew his bastard sword and brandished it. A smoldering radiance filled the cave, bathing it im the glorious light with Celestial origins.

His eyes narrowed as he pointed the top of the blade at the {Argent Amphithere},

"Blades like this and beings like me were born to slay abominations, regardless of how big or small they are. Now, come..."

The creature that had been calmly circling above their heads suddenly acted, diving down at them with unbelievable speed.

Lukas reacted it time, his body lunging out of the way whilst twisting mid air as he dragged his blade across the entire length of the creature's side.

A shower of sparks was made as the blade glided across the scales, doing no damage at all.

Lukas skidded to his feet, kicking up a few rocks and pebbles.

The {Argent Amphithere} was quick to flip around and attack again.

However, the rest were not there for no reason.

Applying strength to her legs, Ignis soared through the air for a moment.

Flames ignited at the soles of her feel. Her {Alabaster Gauntlets} were also enveloped with flames that roared as the descending smashing them towards the creature.

Li moved as swift as the wind. In his fists, he help miniature balls of smoldering plasma, getting ready to detonate it on the creature's body.

Stan's saber has already grown by a whole meter and a half in length, and a few inches in width as he dragged it overhead, ready to swing and chop the beast in half.Nôv(el)B\\jnn

They all attacked in unison. There were no gaps in their attacks, and if they hit, the creature would sustain some injury.

And yet...

The creature's speed suddenly went from a hundred to a thousand in a split second.

All they saw was a silver streak, and then there was a loud explosion as Ignis, Li, and Stan were eblasted back like broken ragdolls, blood trailing behind them.

Lukas has it worse as he has been able to react slightly, but unfortunately, he had been the thing's target from the very beginning.

It slammed its head into him, launching him through the air and breaking a few bones with a single hit.

Blood streaked down his face from a fashion his head, but the {Argent Amphithere} was not done. Instead, it stretched its serpentine mouth open and bit down. A single bit could swallow him whole.

Lukas' sword glowed brightly as he swung down, not at all concerned about the injuries he had just suffered.

His sword struck the creature squarely on its head, and it cracked a few scales, drawing some blood. However, it didn't stop the mutant beast.

Seeing this, Lukas gritted his teeth as he tried to use his sword to block instead. Staring at the large pillar fangs and the poison glands hidden behind them filled Lukas with terror.

He absolutely could not be bitten by that thing, or his death was all but guaranteed.

There was another spark as he was smashed even higher, his back smashing into the ceiling of the cave.

Lukas' eyes widened as he coughed up a mouthful of blood.

The {Argent Amphithere} followed a second later, crashing into him.

The entire cave shook, and rocks and dust came pouring down.

The {Argent Amphithere} removed itself from the rocks, its eyes suffused with malignant delight as it stared at the hole it had caused, ready to lick the bloodied carcass of the being that had dared to challenge it.

It was surprised to see that there was nothing there.

Its incredible perception managed to catch a swift shadow racing away.

It hissed and followed.

Lukas gritted his teeth and glanced to the side,

"You arrived just in time..."

Cain couldn't tell if he was being sarcastic or if he truly had arrived in time.

But now was not the time to be making jokes.

The {Argent Amphithere} was truly a powerful beast. It had acted so quickly, giving them no time to retaliate, almost killing Lukas just a few seconds into the battle.

Cain didn't have to look back to know that the beast was chasing after them.

He swung his blade with a single arm, just in time to catch the {Argent Amphithere} aom the side of its face.

The power behind his swing was not enough to stop the mutant beast, but a second later, a bullet, a ball of lightning, and a sword of light smashed into its head, sending it careening straight into the wall, buying Cain and Lukas enough time to teach the ground in one piece.

Li, Ignis and Stan were already healing up beside Susan, their expressions dark as they downed HP regen potions. Thankfully, their injuries weren't too severe.

Lukas on the other hand had suffered quite a bit.

Cain dropped him to the ground beside Susan.

Lukas cursed, "Careful!"

Zue rushed to his side, "Are you alright, leader?!"

Lukas sat up and winced, "I'll live."

He grimaced as he held his rib,

"That thing hits like a fricking train. Its scales are hard as hell as well."

Then he chuckled and turned his gaze to Cain,

"Give me a moment and I'll rejoin the fight. That freaking thing is not unkillable."

Cain smiled and turned around.

The others had already recovered enough.

Ignis walked over to him, a rather annoyed look on her face,

"It's fast. What's the plan?"

Since their inita approach had failed, it would be wise not to do the same thing over again.

Cain thought about it for a moment.

As he did so, the {Argent Amphithere} pulled itself away from the wall. Rocks fell to the ground, and the cave shook again. It hissed again, and this time, it seemed far more threatening than the other times.

Cain calmly went over what had happened over the last few seconds,

'Its fast, and strong. Even worse, it hasn't used any skills, so we do not have any information on any of that. Even worse, is that we can't attack its blindspots because it doesn't have any...'

Cain eye glowed for a bit and a smile crept onto his features...

The creature was smart, and seemed very capable of keeping a grudge.

It had made Lukas, who had approached it so arrogantly, pointing his blade at its face before the battle even began, its target.

It seemed like a minor detail, for a beast to be easily provoked like that. But Cain realized he could use this to his advantage.

The {Argent Amphithere} has already begun swirling its long body above their heads, ready to swoop down at any moment.

It was looking down on them, its entire being radiating an austere pride that could not be blemished by anything.

It would grow into a fiend that could break the earth and swallow everything whole. Cain had no doubts about that.

'Which is why I will swallow you first!'

Cain pointed his blade at the creature, a sneer tugging at the corner of his lips,

"Let's go again, shall we?"

A piercing hiss cut through the world and the cave shook and rumbled as the {Argent Amphithere} dove down, the promise of death following closely after.
