Chapter 382 Looted
Shane couldn't help but smile as he carried the Minigun that Bao had dropped… The sheer satisfaction of carrying this weapon and shooting at moving targets was indescribable.
"Wake up!" Shane shouted, but it wasn't a simple shout. Behind this was the Titan Roar's power that helped everyone realize that they were only in an illusion. The illusion itself was still there, but their minds soon became clearer about the situation they were in.
It wasn't a big deal for Shane since he had recently obtained Mental Clarity skill, but it was different for the others.
Captain Wei was thankful for Shane's quick action as he immediately ordered the others. Although the illusion was confusing them of the real situation, they were already aware that it was only tricking their eyes, and they were still in the same location.
"Take cover and return fire!" Captain yelled as he felt that the portable barrier generator was starting to collapse.
Liang planned to use his tech expertise to deploy his one and only EMP grenade to disrupt the enemy's electronic devices.
However, seeing that Shane's turret also worked similar to a device, he decided to change his plan and threw a Flash Grenade instead, hoping that it would destroy the illusion completely.
Bang!
His call was right! As soon as the grenade exploded with a flash, it canceled the Mystic Mirage's Illusion Clan Skill and even disoriented those who had survived from Shane's Minigun and Automated Turret!
Furthermore, they realized that among the members of the Clan, 20 of them were already dead, and the last 3 of them were already a hundred meters away and fleeing from the chaos!
The leader looked back, his eyes filled with rage.
"This isn't over!" He yelled at them before retreating into the forest with the two remaining Mystic Mirage members.
However, it was just ignored by the group.
Among the 20 Survivors, Shane had killed a total of 16! He knew this very well since he would get a notification from the System about how he eliminated a Survivor…
On the other hand, Mei, the medic, didn't care about these dead Survivors and those three who had escaped as she moved swiftly. She noticed that aside from Shane and Lysandra, everyone else was injured from the various skills thrown by the Mystic Mirage's members while they were covered within the illusion.
After all, everything happened so swiftly and even after being hit by Shane's turret and minigun, the enemies still had strong vitality and were able to throw various skills or weapon skills before they ultimately perish…
"Hang on…"
Mei said she tends to any injuries sustained by her teammates.
Her calm demeanor and quick actions kept the injured also calm and avoided panicking…
Jin, the scout, was the most heavily wounded among them… Apparently, most of his skills were related to swift movement, stealth techniques, and escape skills. However, his defensive and offensive skills are lacking… After being surrounded, he had the most terrible ability to defend himself.
Because of that, he was hit by the hidden weapons of the enemies, and thankfully, he had a heart mirror on his chest that saved him from a vital injury.
Perhaps, if he didn't manage to hide behind the Automated Turret quickly, he wouldn't be so lucky.
"We can't let those three escape. They might just call for more people. Stay here, and I'll follow them." Shane coldly said as he left the Automated Turret to protect the group before he started chasing the three Survivors.
As for looting the people they had killed, Shane's Auto-Loot Feature had quickly done that for him!
He quickly browsed through these notifications and noticed three interesting results.
[ You have earned 50 Experience Points. ]
[ You have earned 1 Reputation Point. ]
[ Loots obtained: Item Upgrade Crystal x1, 100mL Human Blood ( O+ ), Danger Sense Skill, Petrification Talent ]
[ You have reached the limit of Survivor Talents. Petrification ( Common ) was not added. ]
[ Do you want to remove one of your current Survivor Talents to accommodate the Petrification Talent? ]
[ Hint: You can only have 7 Survivor Talents, but you can check the Reputation Store occasionally, and perhaps you'll find a Talent Expansion Pack! ]
Petrification Talent was definitely a skill that anyone would not miss. Turning someone else into a stone was such a god-like ability and it would surely change his fighting style as well.n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om
However, the fact that it wasn't even a Rare or Exceptional Talent made Shane shake his head at it. It was such a pity that this divine-like Talent was only rated as Common.
Perhaps he could only turn a rat into stone… He might even struggle to do that and only affect some small insects. It was such a pity.
Of course, Shane still considered this for a bit since he might be able to use this to Petrify a part of a human body at the very least. Perhaps petrifying a finger or an eye could greatly help him in battles.
However, considering it was only a common skill, a single Master Grade Armor that has Magic Resistance could easily block this for sure.
As a matter of fact, that was probably the case for him. Perhaps, his SWAT Uniform's Damage Resistance and Increased Evasion already did its job when he was being petrified, but he just didn't notice because it was too weak when used against other Survivors.
Nonetheless, if he could petrify grenades or maybe a fuse of a bomb, it might also be life-saving.
'If it's a Rare Rank, at least, I would not hesitate to take this and replace Lucky Find.' Shane frowned while chasing the three escapees.
At this time, he was using his Phantasm Rush to chase this group without being noticed. Well, he actually had another reason for chasing them, it was to determine the base of the Mystic Mirage Clan…
He felt that this Clan was too evil after all. They actually just attacked them without any proper reasoning, and perhaps, those weaker Survivors had already been killed and looted by them.
Anyway, they might still be far away from their base, so Shane was considering whether he should just try the Petrification Talent and remove Lucky Find, which had some minimal effects.
However, his next exploration in the 20th Sector requires some luck so he was hesitant to remove it.
As for Telekinesis, he felt that it was still very useful right now, so it could not be removed yet. As for the Complete Loot Talent, Otherworldly Mechanic Talent, Territory Lord Talent, and Skill Infuser Talent, there was no way he would consider removing any of them.
After some hesitation, he finally decided to accept the Petrification Talent.
'Let's try something new…'
Although it was very low-rated, he felt that even a weak ability to turn something into stone could be very vital if used correctly.
"Yes… Remove the Lucky Find Talent."
After answering the System, he immediately felt some changes in his body.
Ding!
[ You have replaced Lucky Find Talent ( Exceptional ) to Petrification Talent ( Common ) ]
Shane smiled after seeing this and glanced at the group of Survivors who were still running around. They weren't reaching their base just yet, so Shane glanced at the next notification.
[ You have earned 50 Experience Points. ]
[ You have earned 1 Reputation Point. ]
[ Loots obtained: Item Upgrade Crystal x1, 100mL Human Blood ( A+ ), Acrobatic Skill, Contortionist Talent ]
Shane ignored this Talent and continued checking the next notification.
[ You have earned 50 Experience Points. ]
[ You have earned 1 Reputation Point. ]
[ Loots obtained: Item Upgrade Crystal x1, 100mL Human Blood ( A+ ), Alchemy Skill, Pyrokinesis Talent ]
[ You have reached the limit of Survivor Talents. Pyrokinesis ( Uncommon ) was not added. ]
Being able to control fire was definitely one of the strongest abilities out there. After all, its destructive ability could be easily imagined. In a world where you must kill to survive, this Talent was definitely very helpful.
The owner of this Talent was just unfortunate. The Pyrokinesis had low rating, which made it difficult for him to kill Zombies, so he probably decided to become an alchemist instead.
After some consideration, Shane decided not to take this Talent since, when it comes to dealing damage, he won't lose out to a small fireball at all. Perhaps, this Talent was only as strong as the Flamethrower he had, or it might even be weaker.

In the meantime, while Shane was busy, Captain Wei and the rest of the group found a secure spot to set up camp and wait for him.
Liang deployed his damaged portable barrier generators once more, creating a protective field around their perimeter.
He also set up several wire traps, ensuring that any intruders would be detected.
"We should be safe here for a while…" Liang said, adjusting the settings on the barriers. "But stay alert. We can't afford any surprises."
At this time, Captain Wei sighed as he used the Healing Talisman to heal his body. As a leader, he had to always be in the best condition, so he decided to use the Talisman on him.
After doing this, he turned to the woman that Shane had left with the team.
"Lysandra, do you think Shane will be fine?"
