Chapter 393: Delightful Rewards
"You may come in"
Receiving Corvus' approval, Shye entered the room while suppressing a stupid smile.
"Greetings, Guild Master Corvus."
"Welcome, Crowley. Again, congratulations on becoming the city's rookie representative. You were brilliant. As a reward for your glorious achievements, the contents of this box are yours." Corvus said with a faint smile, lightly pushing the medium-sized box on his desk towards Shye.
Shye wasn't good at suppressing his excitement, hence, upon seeing the box, Shye smiled like a kid who was given a present.
Observing the changes in his emotions, Corvus inwardly chuckled in amusement.
...Naturally, Shye didn't make himself wait; promptly, he extended his arms to open the box, revealing three items inside: one scroll, one pill, and one talisman.
Corvus didn't explain what the items were, opting to instead allow Shye to see for himself as things would be more exciting for him that way.
Grabbing the scroll, Shye opened it, making his eyes almost pop out of their sockets in sheer delight.
"Permanent Blessing of Agility!!" He exclaimed excitedly.
Permanent blessings were hard to both obtain and use as one would have to wait for the local monastery's summons for one to be able to use the blessing chamber.
In addition to this, blessing chambers also have tiers depending on their capabilities.
Luckily for Shye, the blessing chamber of Balkrow City was tier 3, allowing him to use both this regular permanent blessing that he received from Corvus and the one he got from Soaring Raven, the Permanent Blessing of Greater Strength.
Unfortunately, up until now, his request to use the Balkrow Blessing Chamber hasn't been approved.
Hence, he had no choice but to wait.
Still, receiving another permanent blessing was a huge boon, and he was very satisfied with this gift from Corvus.
Moving on, he stored the permanent blessing of agility before grabbing the pill.
Corvus remained silent to test the extent of Shye's knowledge, however, he was fairly sure that Shye would ask him what the pill was as it wasn't a common one at all.
'Appraisal!'
[Name]: Pill of Permanent Night Vision
[Tier]: N/A
[Rarity]: Rare
[Description]: A pill that would permanently adjust one's eyes to enhance one's vision in the dark.
Effects:
One would have the same level of vision at night as one does in daylight.
[Back] [Exit System]
'Fantastic pill!!' Shye inwardly praised. He then nodded approvingly as the smile on his face grew even wider.
"You…know what this pill is?" Corvus couldn't help but ask. He was so sure that Shye wouldn't know.
Apparently, he still underestimated the kid!
"Uhhh…yes, this is a Pill of Permanent Night Vision, right?"
"Y-Yeah…so you know…"
Shye didn't answer as he was slightly guilty of cheating.
Of course, he didn't know what the pill was but with the help of appraisal, there was nothing he wouldn't know.
Moving on to the next item to change the topic, Shye grabbed the talisman. This time, he acted smarter.
"Guild master, what talisman is this?"
Upon hearing that Shye required his assistance, Corvus felt a sense of satisfaction deep within, causing him to straighten his back and exude an air of dignity.
"Ahem!" The guild master cleared his throat before elaborating, "This is a Phantasm Talisman. When activated, it bestows numerous benefits upon the user. Firstly, it renders the user invisible. Secondly, it conceals the user's aura, rendering them undetectable. And thirdly, it masks the user's scent, making them completely untraceable.
In times of crisis, this talisman proves invaluable, whether facing humans or monstrous beasts."
"Ahh! This would indeed be a life-saving talisman! Thank you for your generosity, Guild Master Corvus!" Shye exclaimed in delight as he bowed toward Corvus shortly after.
"Don't mention it. By the way, I have one more piece of good news for you. The local monastery sent me this monastery pass. Your request to use the Balkrow Blessing Chamber has finally been approved."
"Oh! Thank you, guild master. I shall head over there now to use my permanent blessing scrolls."
"Sure, here's the monastery pass. Oh, and make sure to find Luna later, I believe she wants to ask you out."
"O-Okay…"
…
Leaving the branch headquarters, Shye walked towards Balkrow Monastery to finally receive his permanent blessings.
However, his initial excited expression was replaced with a confused one.
'Ask me out? Why would Luna, the top adventurer of Raven's Blade Balkrow Branch, ask me out? On what? A date? I already have a girlfriend…How should I reject her…'
While pondering about such things, Shye failed to notice that he had already arrived at the monastery.
'Sigh…Better not think about it too much. Maybe the guild master just failed to explain properly.'
Approaching the templars, Shye retrieved the monastery pass from the system inventory.
"Hello, I'm here to request assistance in receiving a permanent blessing."
"I understand, may I please see your monastery pass?"
"Here."
"..."
"You may enter."
Nodding gratefully at the templar who didn't make things complicated, Shye proceeded into the monastery.
Inside, he promptly noticed and followed the arrow sign directing towards the "Blessing Chamber".
After a few minutes of walking, he finally arrived.
Entering the Blessing Chamber, Shye had no idea what to do, fortunately, there was a priest who was dozing off behind the counter.
He didn't want to disturb the guy's peaceful slumber, however, he had no choice.
Hence, he tried to wake the priest up as gently as possible.
"U-Uhmm…Hello?"
"AIIIH!! WHO?! ARE WE UNDER ATTACK?! HAS THE APOCALYPSE STARTED?!" The priest exclaimed hysterically, jumping up in utter fright. "You!! You dare prank a priest like this?!
God will not bless scourges like you!!"
"W-Wha? I woke you up as gently as possible though?"
"Hmmph! Keep pretending, unholy man. Still, as an agent of the light, I shall give you a chance to state your…evil goals!"
Hearing the priest's words, Shye felt the urge to give the guy a good slap to "wake him up".
'No, Shye. You must not…'
Suppressing his right hand from slapping the crazy priest, Shye forced himself to smile.
"I-I'm here to receive permanent blessings."
