Chapter 361: Recall

Shye's life-saving skill shopping spree didn't end there as detection skills wouldn't truly allow him to escape death.

He needed to complement it with a high-tier escape skill.

Unfortunately, even after scrolling through everything on the unique-tier scout skill list, there wasn't a single skill that fitted the escape skill criteria in his mind.

Most of the unique-tier scout skills granted him invisibility and aura suppression, however, what he believed he needed was some sort of long-distance, or at least medium-distance teleportation that would instantly save his little life.

Well, he would probably need such invisibility and aura suppression skills in the future, but for now, an escape skill would do him wonders.

'Maybe mages have such skills?' Shye pondered, swiftly tapping on the mage skills button on the left side of the screen before tapping the [Unique-tier] category.

Once again, began the arduous task of scrolling while reading through the skill descriptions.

Fortunately, since he was only looking for escape skills, he could skip reading the description of aggressive-sounding skills such as "Devastation Orb" and "Mass Incineration".

This time, it took him only half an hour to find a skill similar to what he had in mind.

===

[Recall (Unique)] - 65,000 points

Description:

Upon activation, the user would return to the recall point. However, one would need to establish both the recall point and the long-distance magic circle ahead of time before one could chant and activate the spell itself.

Recall point chant:

*10 seconds of gibberish*

Long Distance Magic Circle:

*Circle drawn inside a pentagon with a small star in the middle*

Chant:

*10 seconds of gibberish*

Mana cost: 15,000

Activation Requirements: 1 Long Distance Magic Circle

Note: The spell wouldn't activate if the user chants outside the magic circle.

'Hmmm…this one is a bit complicated to use but…it's the closest one to what I had in mind…'

Shye had to admit, a teleportation spell that would take him to somewhere far in an instant without any preparations might be a bit too unrealistic.

Hence, this one would do.

[Would you like to learn the skill [Recall Lv.1 (Unique)] for 65,000 points?] [Y/N]

[Y]

*FWOOSH*

Again, the familiar black aura shrouded his silhouette.

However, this time, Shye was as serene as a summer's day, patiently waiting for the dark veil to subside without a hint of panic or anxiety.

After a few minutes, the dark aura subsided, bringing a smile to Shye's face.

Confirming that the skill has been added to the list of his mage skills, Shye decided to try it.

'Hmmm…how will I draw the magic circle though? Do mundane pens work?' Shye pondered, a bit annoyed at the lack of information. 'Oh? What about the mana pen skill used by instructor Per?'

He remembered that in one of his classes, one of his instructors, Per Hackett, used mana to draw something on the ground.

The guy then easily erased the drawing afterward with a simple snap of his fingers.

'Yeah, maybe I could use that skill.'

And so, Shye learned another common-tier skill named [Mana Pen Lv.1] for 500 points.

'So…first things first…let's summon a recall point…' Shye inwardly thought, realizing something shortly after. 'Haaah…and how do I summon a recall point? Well, there's nothing else to do but try, is there?'

'Recall point!'

'Recall: Summon recall point!'

'Summon recall point!'

He tried every phrase he could think of, however, none of them worked.

'T-There's just no way I wasted 65,000 points on this crap!' He panicked slightly.

However, upon glancing at the screen again, he realized that there was another way to summon the recall point, it's just that…he had never tried doing it in his entire life.

'Oh…right. Maybe I can try chanting…'

This time, Shye realized how hard it actually was to be a mage.

Although he easily memorized the chant due to his high intelligence and wisdom attributes, actually reciting it proved to be hard as his tongue hadn't recited a single chant word in the past.

Fortunately, after around ten tries, he finally succeeded.

"Hmm... so this is a recall point?" Shye pondered, observing the small magic circle that appeared beneath his elemental staff. "Alright, let's set up the long-distance magic circle now..."

Wasting no time, he went over to the other end of the room and tried his best to replicate the strange magic circle displayed below the skill's description.

Again, due to his unfamiliarity regarding the mana pen's usage and his bad drawing skills, it took him a few tries before successfully replicating the said magic circle.

'W-What…will this work? It looks plain as heck…' Shye mused, a bit doubtful that the crappy long-distance magic circle he prepared would work.

Still, he had to try as it would be too dangerous to entrust his life to the skill without even using it once.

'Alright... So, the instructions mention that I need to perform the spell within the magic circle for it to be effective. But if my quick cast doesn't function, then everything would be useless in an emergency…'

Suddenly, Shye felt nervous.

He used a whopping 65,000 system points to purchase this skill.

If by some chance his instant cast failed…

'Ughh…I don't even want to think about it…'

Taking one deep breath, Shye stepped inside the magic circle.

'Phew…here goes my 65,000 points…Recall!'

Nothing…happened…or so Shye thought.

The scenery remained the same.

He was inside the room, however, he failed to immediately notice that he was standing in a different part of the room.

"F*ck! F*ck!" Shye cursed in frustration. "One more time! I refuse to believe that my 65,000 points went down the drain like this!"

Looking down to check if his entire body was inside the magic circle, Shye frowned.

"Hmm? What the heck am I doing…So I was standing at the recall point all this time? Silly m–?!"

Finally realizing what happened, the frustration in Shye's heart vanished into thin air.

"YES! YES!!!"
