Chapter 307: Unveiling More Secrets about the Barren Land.
Feeling the cold shiver down its spine, the Mountain Bear Giant looked at the metallic artifacts in front of the puny humans in shock.
Before it could process what was so special about the artifacts, it heard a thunderous sound in its ears.
Boom!
The Mountain Bear Giant found itself flying, its eyes widened.
'How is this possible?!' That was the only thought in its mind when it crashed into the massive mountains in the distance.
It did not stop immediately, destroying all the mountains on its path for over fifty meters.
Reeling in shock, confusion, and fear, the Mountain Bear Giant felt its heart thumping heavily against its chest.
From its waist below had blasted to smithereens, while part of its chest was nowhere to be found.
For a couple of seconds, it couldn't make up what just happened. Everything happened too fast for it to comprehend.
Finally, it managed to speak. "A-A-Am I still...in..the Lotus World?"
It did not dare to believe this was the mortal world they almost destroyed over millennia.
If not for some powerful being that sealed them, weakening their strength, a single slap from it would have halved the continent.
The Lotus World was a mortal world without any immortals. Thus, nothing was special about the mortal world, not until now.
The mountain might be weak, its strength was still of the Nascent Soul realm, and yet it was still defeated so easily that it looked like it was just an ant.
Reeling in confusion, the Mountain Bear Giant saw the humans approaching him with the same deadly artifacts.
With the artifacts pointed at it, the Mountain Bear Giant felt its heart skip a beat and knew if they attacked once again.
There was only one outcome -- Death.
"Humans, please don't kill me," He begged with teary eyes.
Their races had almost been vanquished in the previous realm war, and thus, it did not know if he was the last of its kind.
Therefore, it didn't want to die in this mortal planet.
Meanwhile, Su Bolin looked at the Mountain Bear Giant without any expression on his face and raised his hand to give the last command.
"P-P-please." The thick, hoarse cry of the giant reverberated in the mountain.
From its expression, the soldiers could see it was obviously scared of dying.
Even though they knew its expression was genuine, they didn't pity the demon. They couldn't wait to receive the command and destroy the demon to smithereens.
But then, Su Bolin lowered his hand and commanded.
"Retreat!"
What!
All the soldiers were stunned. They looked at their commander with wide eyes, but when they saw the deadpan expression on his face.
No one uttered a word, and they retreated in perfect sync.
Watching the humans retreating, the Mountain Bear Giant breathed a sigh of relief.
For the next one hour, the Endless Mountain was silent like a graveyard. It was then that the Mountain Bear Giant found it strange.
Even though it was a mountain range, there should be the sound of beasts and other animals in the vicinity, but none was found.
'Something is not right?' It thought and prepared to leave.
From the sky, a young man in white descended like a god.
Watching his descent, the Mountain Bear Giant felt something up its body and felt an imminent danger.
It tried to escape with all its might but found out its body was not responding to its call.
'Impossible! How could this be?!'
This was its body; how was it possible for the body not to follow its command.
While it was battling to regain the command of its body, Su Yen landed on its chest, staring directly into its eyes.
'I'm doomed!' That was its only thought.
Previously, it thought the Lotus World was still weak, but now. It knew better.
Hadn't it known such a monster was still in the world, it wouldn't have come out of its sealed place.
Contrary to its chaotic thought, Su Yen didn't have any expression on his face. Slowly, he opened his mouth and spoke.
"Tell me why I should not kill you?"
With such a monster standing on its chest, it knew it had to think carefully before it spoke.
After a minute, it gathered the courage and uttered.
"What you called the Bloodmoon Envoy will arrive earlier than expected."
When Su Yen heard this, he was shocked deep in his heart but did not show a change in his expression.
He continued to stare at the giant as if what it just told him was nothing.
Under such impeccable acting, the Mountain Bear Giant was scared and continued.
"The Bloodmoon Envoy are beings from the higher realm looking for the Ancient Battlefield, and one way to find the ancient battlefield was to destroy this world's providence."
"According to what I've learned so far, the world's providence served as a shield protecting the Ancient Battlefield."
The Mountain Bear Giant paused and waited for Su Yen to speak. It did not know if what it was saying was useful or not, and perhaps, if this human needed specific information.
The two stared at each other for a couple of seconds before Su Yen finally spoke.
"Tell me what is so special about this ancient battlefield."
"The importance of the Ancient Battlefield is endless. Let me just tell you a few."
"First, the ancient battlefield has many rare divine weapons, cultivation techniques, martial skills, and many more. It could turn a weak race into a powerful race."
"The most important part is that it leads to a higher realm."
Hearing the earthshaking news, Su Yen's heart skipped a beat, and he took all his willpower to gasp in shock.
Now, he knew why this world was so special. Still, there was a question in his heart.
"If what you say is true, those from the higher realm should be flocking to our world. I don't think they would be discreet about it."
"You're right. I guess the so-called Bloodmoon Envoy discovered the secret by a stroke of luck and decided to have it all for themselves."
"Hmm!" Su Yen nodded and asked once again. "Did you fight in the war?"
"Yes." The Mountain Bear Giant nodded proudly before its expression turned unsightly.
"Even though I fought in the war, I'm part of the cannon folders. I'm just too weak to fight in the realm war." It added dejectedly.
Su Yen sucked in a cold breath when he heard. If such an ancient being was a cannon folder, then how strong were the strongest beings at that time.
Thinking all this made him realize he was just too weak and all his previous pride was nothing.
Getting hold of his emotion, he asked.
"Do you know why they called this place the barren land?"
"Yes." It nodded. "Even though your world had the passage to the Ancient Battlefield, some battles occurred in your world, and those places are what you call the Barren Land."
"I see..." Su Yen mused.
"Do you know who sealed you?"
Shaking its head. "I don't know. I was engaged in battle when a mysterious power sealed me in this place."
"So, you're saying the endless mountains are beings in the realm war."
"Yes, most of them."
