Chapter 55: Special bond.
"What do you want from me?" Sasha asked as she covered her naked body and stared at Lucifer full of fear in her eyes. "I gave you my everything..." Sasha continued in her trembling voice.
Lucifer walked toward Sasha as Sasha avoided him, but she ended up standing against the wall with centipedes that immediately crawled onto her body and ate her flesh. She was screaming in pain as the smaller centipedes entered her ears, nose, and mouth, and ate her eyes.
Lucifer was watching her getting eaten until there was nothing left of her in just a minute. He then snapped his fingers and brought her back as if nothing had happened to her. He then put his hand on the wall, and it made all the centipedes crawl away in fear.
"Do you think that’s enough?" Lucifer asked as he put his left hand on Sasha’s face. "You have no chance of leaving this place since you took your own life. You belong here, and I have so things I wanted to try with you," Lucifer continued with a smirk and put his thumb all over Sasha’s lips.
Lucifer leaned his head toward Sasha’s ear as his black wings covered Sasha like a cocoon. He whispered something and then he slowly leaned his head back to look at Sasha’s expression. Sasha was trembling in fear as tears fell down to her chin, and she couldn’t believe what she had just heard.
"Now come, or would you rather stay here and be the food of these creatures?" Lucifer asked as he offered his hand.
Sasha was staring at Lucifer’s big hand with long black claws that were as sharp as scalpels. She slowly reached Lucifer’s hand and Lucifer immediately chuckled mischievously at her.
"Let’s begin," Lucifer said as he spread his wings and disappeared with Sasha in an instant, leaving a few feathers behind.
(Beijing, China)
Mykel opened his eyes and he was out of breath for no reason, and weirdly enough he knew he had a nightmare, but he couldn’t remember any of it. He looked outside the window and the plane had just landed. He looked at Jeanne who sat next to him, and she was still asleep, and then he looked at the others who were also asleep.
He tried to remember what kind of dream he had, but it was so fuzzy that it gave him a headache. He decided to ignore it and went to the bathroom to wash his face as he waited for the plane to be parked. He looked at his face and as he stared into his own eyes, his heart was racing for no reason.
"Dad? Are you in there?" Elena asked.
"Yeah," Mykel answered.
Elena entered the bathroom because she could feel the uneasiness from Mykel since she got some of her power back. She couldn’t tell why yet, but she knew he was anxious which was why she got awoken as well. She put her hand on Mykel’s chest and could feel his racing heart, and then she looked at him with a worried expression.
"I can feel it too even if it’s just a little..." Elena said as she slowly hugged Mykel to comfort him.
"I’m fine now, thank you," Mykel said as he kissed Elena’s head. "Let’s leave," Mykel continued as he smiled gently.
Mykel and Elena walked out of the bathroom and everyone was mildly shocked when they saw those two walk out of the bathroom. They then got off the plane and saw Zhang waiting with the cars ready to pick them up.
They all went to Golden Lotus headquarters because the portal was quite far, and Zhang wanted Mykel and his team to get some rest first. Ren and Jeong had arrived a day earlier, so they had prepared everything for the expedition.
Everyone had a banquet that Zhang had prepared for them, but Mykel had been so quiet all the time which made the whole banquet feel a bit awkward. Nobody knew why, and even Jeanne didn’t know what had happened since Mykel didn’t want to talk about it.
"I’ll head to my bedroom first. Let’s leave early in the morning," Mykel said after he emptied his glass of rice wine.
They looked at Mykel left the hall, and then Elena excused herself as well since she wanted to accompany him. The banquet continued since Jeanne and the others stayed to tell Zhang and the others what had happened in Warsaw.
Elena entered Mykel’s room, and she saw Mykel sitting on the bed and staring at the balcony in the dark. She then sat next to Mykel and slowly wrapped her arms around him and rested her head on his shoulder.
It was just silence because they both felt the same feeling and tried to comfort each other.
"What are you feeling right now, Elena?" Mykel asked and smoked his cigarette.
"Sadness and anxiety," Elena answered as she looked at Mykel and puffed the smoke so slowly until the smoke hit the ceiling. "I would never care about feelings if they were mine, but Dad, these feelings are yours, and I can’t help but worried about you," Elena said as she slowly grabbed the cigarette from Mykel’s mouth.
Mykel looked at Elena holding his cigarette, and he could tell she was curious about how it tasted and why Mykel smoked that almost every day. She then put the cigarette in her mouth and tried to inhale it, and when she puffed the smoke she realized why, it somehow made her calm down.
"Do you like it?" Mykel asked as he looked at Elena’s expression.
"I don’t know, but I won’t finish it," Elena answered as she put the cigarette back into Mykel’s mouth.
Mykel chuckled as he stood up and removed his suit and shirt. He then went to the balcony to finish his cigarette, and when he was done, he saw Elena was already asleep on his bed. He put the blanket on Elena’s body and then he lay down next to her as he tried to get some sleep.
The next morning, Mykel got awoken by the chirping sounds on the balcony. He looked down and saw Elena hugging him so tightly, and then he carefully got up to wash his face. He didn’t have a dream this time, and he felt a bit better for some reason, and then he took a shower since he only had half an hour to prepare.
"Good morning. You look refreshed," Jeanne said as she looked at Mykel.
"It could be because of exhaustion that I felt a bit different yesterday," Mykel answered.
"You? Exhausted? That sounds impossible," Aurea said as she fixed her sweater. "On the other hand, Elena looked tired. Didn’t you both sleep together last night? Did you do something to her?" Aurea asked as she looked at Mykel with suspicion.
Mykel looked at Elena and she looked paler than usual, but she was fine in the morning. Her eyes were a bit red and she felt sore all over her body which made her feel uncomfortable. She had never felt that before since she had never been sick ever since she was born., and it looked like she had a fever.
"Elena, I don’t think you should go. You need to rest," Lillith said and she looked worried.
"No, I can go," Elena answered as she shook her head slowly. "I’ll get better when we get there, let’s go," Elena said.
The moment Elena took a step forward, she felt like her head was spinning and she immediately collapsed, but Aurea was there to catch her. Aurea was shocked when Elena’s body was so cold that it felt like she was holding a big block of ice.
"Mykel, this is something else. She can’t go," Aurea said.
Zhang, Ren, and Jeong looked at Elena and they were confused and worried because her skin became as pale as snow. Mykel was holding her and her temperature kept dropping and her body was stiffened.
"You guys can go. I’ll stay and take care of Elena," Mykel said since he might know what happened to her.
"Are you sure?" Jeanne asked.
"Yes, go," Mykel nodded his head.
Jeanne and the others left the hotel and went to the portal since Zhang had prepared everything on the site. Mykel carried Elena in his arms and went back to his room so she could rest on the bed.
"Dad, what’s happening to me?" Elena asked.
"Since you’re getting your power back, the capacity of your life energy is also getting bigger. Since you got turned into a human, you have very little life energy while at the same time, you used your life energy to turn it into power," Mykel answered. "As long as you don’t use any strength, you should be fine," Mykel continued.
Mykel was thinking of a way to recharge her life energy, but since the system was still offline, he couldn’t give it to her. He was thinking really, but he couldn’t think of any solution to the problem.
"There’s someone who can help me," Elena said.
"Who?" Mykela asked.
"Magnus. His spear produced life energy, and if we can borrow it, I might be able to get better," Elena answered. "I don’t know how much time I have left, Dad, I’m scared," Elena said as she looked at Mykel.
"You’ll be alright, I promise," Mykel said as he held Elena’s hand.
