CEO's Runaway Mate and Her Cubs

Chapter 511 Many possibilities

Once reached home, Nate left Scarlet on the bed next to Lara. As if ordered, the little girl crawled to her mommy and hugged her before falling asleep like a stone would fall in a well.

He chuckled, observing his girls. Their breathing was slow and funnily synchronised. With her eyes closed, Scarlet did resemble Lara a little. She looked calm, which made him chuckle for the second time.

«Let's go,» he said, then.

Jaden peeked from the door, questioningly glaring at his dad.

«Where?»

«I don't know. We'll think of something.»

«Now?»

«Yes.»

«And mommy?»

«She's sleeping. She won't need us for a while. We can do something together... Unless you want to stay here and bore yourself until they wake up.»

Jaden shook his head. His mommy and sister would need a lot of time to get up. Then even more just to be able to talk with him.

He was already awake, even though tired. He could as well spend time with dad during the morning.

Nate spread his arms, signalling to Jaden he would carry him out. However, the latter didn't run to him as expected.

«What's up?» Nate asked, closing the door and turning to the exit. «Are you angry with me?»

«No, I am not,» Jaden said.

«So why are you unwilling to let me carry you?»

«Because I want to be a big brother.»

«Big brother?» Nate repeated, pleased. At least, one of their pups would agree to have a little sibling.

The other would never be as happy, but she would have to accept the situation.

«Yes. My mommy said I'm becoming a big brother like this. I'm growing up! She also said that I can have a little sister if you decide to.»

«I?»

Nate's happiness rose up to the sky. Not only fifty percent of his pups agreed to have a sibling, but also his mate had talked about it.

«Yes. Mommy said you might have other pups in the future, and that I need to be a big brother. Also, aunty said I will be her pup's big brother. I can teach aunt's pup when we meet.»

«She said so?»

Were all the women in his family suddenly working for him? What a novelty!

«And uncle said that I need to be responsible and act cool.»

«Your uncle said that?»

Even Cannella? The whole world was telling him to have other kids! Even the person he was expecting the least from.

However, he first needed to ensure everything was fine with Jaden. His acting mature might have been just a phase or the symptom of something changing.

Did he hate so much being treated like a child? Was it time to change? But Nate didn't know how.

He didn't act in any special way with his pups. He would do just what he thought was right, and sometimes he would understand it was wrong only later. Lara had never said anything, either way. She would be happy when he was right and even more when he made mistakes.

She liked seeing him try his best, she would say then.

As such, Nate could afford to act rash once or twice.

He walked to Jaden since his son was keeping some distance and picked him up all the same. The little boy didn't put any resistance. He still didn't dislike being treated like a child. He just wouldn't actively do anything.

«What do we do?» Nate asked.

«Mommy will be hungry when she wakes up,» Jaden said.

«And you?»

«I'm woke up.»

«Are you hungry?»

«Just a little. I want to eat with my mommy.»

«Okay, then. Let's go select something special for breakfast.»

Jaden nodded, putting his hands on Nate's shoulder. They walked out the penthouse like that, unknowingly attracting the attention of every pair of eyes around.

The small version of the handsome adult would make everyone sigh in awe, while Nate's tenderness earned him the approval of the passer-bys.

«Do you like grandpa Luther?» Nate asked, recalling all the things he needed to ascertain before relaxing.

There were a couple of threats to his family or pack, for a change. Mayford was in check, so they were thinking they would worry never again. Yet, a potential rogue had to be taken care before they could trouble the pack.

Luther was a problem on his own. Nate had heartened his mother, but he wasn't so sure about his words.

To him, family was everything. But Luther was human, and he had come out of isolation just recently. His family was hateful, and Nate wouldn't blame him if he wanted revenge.

He also wanted it. But he couldn't get entangled with the Clayton couple without hurting Lara, so he had given up. But he couldn't be sure those two would leave their daughter alone.

In any case, he was ready for any attack. He would find a story to explain any weird occurrence about Lara they would make public. Even those he knew nothing about: she hadn't told him everything about her life, so he could be sure there weren't small secrets she had kept for herself or even just forgot to inform him about.

It was her right, in the end. He also didn't need to tell her every little detail about his life. He just wanted to. Except those embarrassing moments he wouldn't confess under torture, lest Lara heard about his bad days.

«I like grandpa Luther,» Jaden said, as expected. Melanie had warned her son about the pups' behaviour. Your journey continues with empire

Even Scarlet would be calmer when he was around.

«He's interesting, and he said he'll teach us business.»n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om

«Will he?»

«Yes, but he said we'll need to grow up a little more. He said he can leave his company to us when he retires.»

«Which company?»

«I don't know.» Jaden shrugged. «Grandpa just said so.»

«Oh, well. You'll have my company to manage.»

«Me? And Scarlet?»

«Oh, right... Well, I'm not a hundred per cent sure. You two are Alphas. One of you will become my successor while the other will be the first ally. I'm not sure who'll be who, though.»

He could read Jaden's mountain of questions in his eyes, and he got ready to reply to each one of them. The most frequent answer would be «I don't know,» but they would still carry on their conversation like usual.
