Chapter 224: Chapter 92: Having One Doesn't Necessarily Mean Having Another
The Martial World.
Unaware of the undercurrents that had surged on Blue Star after he fell asleep, Lin Su was awakened by Azi's call. After a simple wash, he greeted the dawn and began his second day of practicing spear techniques.
Just like yesterday, Lin Su continued to practice the basic techniques that followed spear technique. After reviewing yesterday's "Chop", he learned "Swing" and "Parry" today.
With yesterday's experience, Lin Su picked things up more quickly today. Under his father's guidance, the spear practice proceeded in an orderly fashion.
While instructing Lin Su in spear techniques, the father spoke more than usual and even during rest breaks in the middle of training, he would ask about Lin Su's recent progress in beast taming. Compared to the previously awkward atmosphere between father and son, their interaction had become much more natural, indistinguishable from that of a real father and son.
The occasional concern shown by Lin Zhen Nan also allowed Lin Su to genuinely feel the warmth of family affection.
Not far from where Lin Su was training, Qiuqiu was using Snow Blow to rapidly create a large snowy area on an empty field to begin its daily training regimen. The Lin Family disciples who curiously gathered to watch were far fewer than yesterday, only casting admiring glances toward the spirit dancing on the snow during their rest breaks.
Occasionally, subtle ripples would emanate from among their shadows, but even when the disciples noticed these ripples, they didn't feel overly anxious.
After yesterday's training session, these Lin Family disciples had come to understand that this was another one of Lin Su's pets training its Shadow Concealment ability using their shadows, which had no effect on them.
It wasn't until the gong and drum signals from the Lin Family's martial training ground announced the end of the morning session that Lin Su wiped his sweat with a wet towel provided by a clan member and took his two pets to have lunch with his father.
It was only the second day of training, yet he was already beginning to enjoy the feeling.
After the meal, Lin Su, accompanied by Qiuqiu and the ghostly creature, tackled the beast tower just like before.
With the experience from yesterday's tower climbing, the two pets performed even better today. After teaming up smoothly to pass the first three floors, they even had the energy to take a look at the fourth floor.
The fourth floor of the beast tower presented an earth-based environment. For both pets, such an environment did not pose a disadvantage. Qiuqiu had no problems, as it easily conjured Frost Snow within the earthy surroundings. For the ghostly creature, the shadows of the rocks and other objects in the environment provided it with space to operate.
However, they still failed to clear the fourth floor because they faced two earth-based monsters, one of lower monarch breed and the other of middle command breed. Both monsters not only had all their skills at Tier III proficiency, but their skills also had a certain synergy, enabling them to execute combo attacks, which the previous three floors didn't feature. Facing such opponents, Qiuqiu and the ghostly creature were still somewhat lacking.
After failing the team challenge, neither pet was willing to give up and both tried to tackle the challenge alone. Unfortunately, neither could overcome the fourth floor opponents in the away game.
The consecutive failures significantly disheartened both pets, to the extent that Lin Su had to keep encouraging them on the way back, which finally made the two little guys feel a bit better.
Back at the Lin Family's backyard, the two pets, reignited with a desire for power, began intense training, while Lin Su was no less diligent, starting his routine meditation without having received any news of the Space Heart.
Not until nightfall did the man and his two pets complete their respective practices and head back to Blue Star, bringing an end to a day in the Martial World.
…
After shutting off the alarm coming from the communicator, Lin Su's feet lit up with goose-yellow patterns that wove into an array, from which Qiuqiu and the ghostly creature reemerged.
He looked at his two pets and then turned his gaze to the ghostly creature, "We're going to head to the research institute soon."
He paused, then reached out to ruffle the ghostly creature's head, "If everything goes well, after today you shouldn't need to hide in the shadows anymore and can appear openly like Qiuqiu."
"Jeer! (。⊙‿⊙。)" (How exciting!)
The ghostly creature waved its paws, physically expressing its excitement.
"Don't just think about the fun," Lin Su said with a light laugh, then his expression gradually became serious, "Yesterday when Nan sister tested you, she saw the Flying Knife Skill, Substitute, and Shadow Concealment abilities, right?"
The ghostly creature blinked, recalling the battle from the previous day, and hurriedly nodded.
"Jeer!" (Yes!)
"Hmm." Receiving the affirmative response from the ghostly creature, Lin Su breathed a sigh of relief, "That's good, during the test today, don't reveal the Talent Skills pocket. Pretend that you only have three abilities, and take out everything from the Talent Skills pocket in advance."
Although the ghostly creature didn't understand why Lin Su made such a request, it complied, giving a slight shake that removed all the contents previously tucked in the Talent Skills pocket.
There wasn't much inside, apart from the daily dark resources that the ghostly creature stored in its pocket, the rest were the energy potions Lin Su had prepared in advance.
After securing these items away in a relatively hidden cabinet under the bed, Lin Su began to explain softly, "Because on Blue Star, the Trickster Clown is a brand-new starting species, so no one knows what your Talent Skills are."
