Chapter 172

C172 – Ming Yue Could Not Help It

“I have no choice but to leave,” Ming Yue said, gesturing towards the vast sea. “Wouldn’t it be a fitting end to be buried at sea?”

“You seem to have forgotten what I’ve told you before,” Ye Hao said with a smile. “Remember, if you’re ever in trouble, you can come to me.”

“You wanted to know why I was going to jump into the sea?” Ming Yue turned to face Ye Hao. “Wang Guangrao, the Wang family’s heir, has set his sights on me, and their influence in Glento is substantial. How is a woman like me supposed to stand against that?”

“That’s just your perception,” Ye Hao replied with a slight smile. “I don’t see the Wang family as all that powerful.” With that, he embraced Ming Yue’s waist and leapt gracefully, diving off the ship’s railing from a height of six or seven meters, Ming Yue’s cry of surprise trailing behind them.

“A woman like you deserves to live a vibrant life,” Ye Hao said as he released Ming Yue’s waist.

At that moment, a distant shout was heard, and a young man approached, flanked by several bodyguards. He was a handsome figure, though his pale complexion suggested a penchant for heavy drinking.

“Who are you?” Wang Guangrao asked, eyeing Ye Hao warily as he stood next to Ming Yue.

“I’m a friend of Ming Yue,” Ye Hao replied with a smile.

“Ming Yue doesn’t need male friends,” Wang Guangrao retorted sharply.

His response was telling of his character: domineering and possessive, treating Ming Yue as if she were his property.

“But I happen to be Ming Yue’s boss,” Ye Hao said, still smiling.

“Ming Yue’s boss?” Wang Guangrao looked at Ming Yue, clearly puzzled.

Ming Yue was equally taken aback, unaware of when Ye Hao had assumed such a role, yet she managed to keep her composure without revealing any surprise.

“Is there an issue?” Ye Hao asked.

“As my wife, you should be managing my affairs,” Wang Guangrao stated coldly.

“You’re not even engaged,” Ye Hao countered with a scoff. “Besides, who says Ming Yue wants to marry you?”

“Perhaps you’re unaware that our engagement is set to take place on this cruise ship today.”

“Well, then let me make it clear: your engagement is hereby canceled.”

“Who do you think you are?”

“I’m Ye Hao.”

“Ye Hao?” Wang Guangrao’s recognition of the name dawned suddenly. After a bodyguard murmured in his ear, Wang Guangrao pointed at Ye Hao, bursting into laughter, “You might be unaware, but you’ve made it onto the Faang family’s blacklist. They could shred you to pieces anytime they wish.”

“Yet here I am, alive and kicking,” Ye Hao replied nonchalantly. “As for you, your fate hangs in the balance.”

Wang Guangrao was taken aback.

The next moment, he plunged into the sea.

The three bodyguards accompanying Wang Guangrao were dumbfounded.

They had never imagined that Ye Hao would dare to toss Wang Guangrao into the ocean right before their eyes.

“You.” One bodyguard, furious, aimed a punch at Ye Hao’s face.

With a swift turn, Ye Hao collided with the bodyguard’s chest, sending him stumbling backward. As he fell several meters back, Ye Hao quickly stepped forward, seized the bodyguard by the collar, and hurled him into the sea.

Ye Hao then turned to the remaining hesitant yet wary bodyguards and challenged, “Have you no concern for your master’s life?”

Exchanging glances, the two bodyguards simultaneously leapt into the sea.

Ye Hao addressed Ming Yue, who wore an anxious look, “Don’t worry.”

“But…”

“There are no ‘buts’,” Ye Hao cut her off firmly, “Come with me now.”

After a brief hesitation, Ming Yue followed Ye Hao.

Ye Hao exuded a powerful and enigmatic aura that intrigued Ming Yue.

She couldn’t fathom his confidence.

Yet she trusted that Ye Hao wouldn’t gamble with his own life.

Not just anyone has the audacity to throw the Wang family’s heir into the sea.

Not even Zheng Wuyuan, the Zheng family’s heir, would dare such a feat.

But Ye Hao had done just that.

With his current level of skill, Ye Hao could sense everything within a hundred-meter radius, which led him straight to the Wang family’s engagement ceremony.

Upon entering the venue, Ye Hao made his way to the ceremony stage.

A single tap on the microphone was all it took to capture the undivided attention of everyone there.

“I believe some of you may know me,” Ye Hao declared, his eyes sweeping over the crowd.

There were quite a few familiar faces in attendance, many of whom were members of the Immortals Retreat.

“I’m here today to take Ming Yue with me,” Ye Hao stated succinctly.

The room erupted into murmurs of disbelief.

No one had anticipated such a bold declaration from Ye Hao, as he was openly challenging the Wang family.

It was, after all, the engagement ceremony between the Wang family’s heir and Ming Yue.

Ming Yue herself was so taken aback that she couldn’t find the words to speak.

She had not foreseen Ye Hao opting for such a straightforward approach.

“Outrageous!” the Wang family patriarch bellowed, “This man is unbearably rude. Cast him into the sea to feed the fish!”

It was uncharacteristic for someone of his stature to lose composure, but his rage had gotten the better of him.

As his command hung in the air, a reluctant voice emerged from the crowd.

“Uncle Wang, please wait,” Zhou Wanqing interjected, rising to her feet, “There might be a misunderstanding here.”

“Wanqing, I’m aware of your ties to him, but his actions have disrupted my son’s engagement, making him an adversary of the Wang family,” the patriarch articulated firmly, “I must insist that you refrain from interfering.”

The patriarch was cautioning Zhou Wanqing, and it was clear that anyone else would have been met with a swift rebuke.

Zhou Wanqing let out a soft sigh.

“Ye Hao has been gracious to me,” she said, stepping forward, “Uncle Wang, for the sake of the longstanding friendship between our families, could you possibly forgive him this once?”

The patriarch of the Wang family paused, taken aback.

He hadn’t expected Zhou Wanqing to go to such lengths to defend Ye Hao, even invoking the bond between their families.

“Leave this place at once,” he finally declared after a moment’s contemplation.

Ye Hao responded with a chuckle.

“Are you certain you want me to leave?”

His question left the audience momentarily confused.

But the reason behind Ye Hao’s words quickly became clear.

Wang Guangrao, supported by two bodyguards and soaked through, had just made his way into the center of the venue.

“Guangrao, what’s happened?” the Wang family patriarch demanded with a grave tone upon witnessing the scene.

Wang Guangrao’s gaze instantly fixed on Ye Hao, who stood atop the ceremony platform. “I’m going to kill you.”

Two bodyguards quickly intervened to block Wang Guangrao’s path.

“Young master, this man is no ordinary opponent.”

“We’re out of our league against him,” the bodyguards cautioned, bringing Wang Guangrao to a moment of clarity.

“Guangrao,” the patriarch pressed once more.

“Father, he tossed me into the sea,” Wang Guangrao declared with unwavering intensity.
